So there was this test on who said what Pope Fran of Pope Benny.

Should I fork over my papist card?

No, you should not. Though you were only able to distinguish between Pontiffs 50% of the time, you did recognize 100% of the time that the quotes came from at least some Pontiff. Your papist card is safe. Now, your Ratzinger and Bergoglio cards are different matters...

BTW, you got the same amount as I did. :P Maybe I should have finished reading a couple of those before I voted.

If I am allowed an immediate retry without study, I got 12.

I did not realize Benedict was so political.

I just started. Answers are super easy so far. Seriously? Any Catholic should know that if there's a quote from a Pope about secularism, there's a 95% chance it's from Pope Benedict XVI.

12 out of 14 right. For a while you just answer with one Pope every other question, but it started to rotate with one Pope every two answers at the end.

I find Pope Benedict's writing style to be extremely distinctive.

I think so, too. When I was about halfway through I realized that I'd probably get them all right if I ignored content and paid attention exclusively to syntactic complexity and vocabulary.

Pope Benedict's writing is easily identifiable by sounding really complicated and impressive in its wording. That's not to say Pope Francis ist stupid, but he writes in a more simple and readable way.

Not even that for me. I find it very accessible. But he uses words in a very distinctive way. Lots of personality in his writing.

Perhaps you are just 'Reading Francis through Benedict', nothing wrong with that. Father Z loves doing that.

"Fundamentalism is always a falsification of religion. It goes against the essence of religion, which seeks to reconcile and to create God’s peace throughout the world."

"The right of religious freedom extends beyond the question of worship and includes the right - especially of minorities - to fair access to the employment market and other spheres of civic life."

These two really show what I mean. Classic Benedict. Nobody but he writes like that. :)
