4588686
GENEVA — Iran and six major powers agreed early Sunday on a historic deal that freezes key parts of Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for temporary relief on some economic sanctions, diplomats confirmed. The agreement, sealed at a 3 a.m. signing ceremony in Geneva’s Palace of Nations, requires Iran to halt or scale back parts of its nuclear infrastructure, the first such pause in more than a decade. http://m.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/kerry-in-geneva-raising-hopes-for-historic-nuclear-deal-with-iran/2013/11/23/53e7bfe6-5430-11e3-9fe0-fd2ca728e67c_story.html Edited November 24, 2013 by Hasan
arfink
I wonder if perhaps the Iranian's inability to efficiently produce enriched uranium hexafluoride for many years now, despite using stolen centrifuge designs which worked great in several other countries, has influenced their decision to ease up on nuclear development. Ed Normile
Arfink that may have as much to do with it as the thought of another Iraeli intervention..... ed
Aloysius
this is very good news. hopefully this ease in sanctions can ease the burden on the ordinary people of Iran and avoid the potential for catastrophic war. of course, some idiotic senators have already said that they want to STILL go through with tougher sanctions.... of course you'll notice in the text of the agreement we have made them agree not to accept gold for oil anymore. the petrodollar lives! but I'm sure that's not important, ignore the man behind the curtain, the media sure does lol. anyway, so long as the petrodollar isn't threatened, many of the people with their real hands on the strings will be satisfied with this deal for now I imagine.
