Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
Pornographic or modest ? Jesus is Lord.
blazeingstar
Neither. Many are in bad taste, but don't qualify as pornographic, nor do they follow the guidelines of modesty. There are many ways to be one without the other.
CrossCuT
I think it depends on a lot of things. Who is putting it on, whats the actual purpose etc. Sometimes a bathing suit contest is not about the bathing suits...its about who looks hottest in them....Id say that would probably be bad especially if you know you would fall into an occasion of sin due to bikinis etc. If its an actual fashion show of some kind to show off new bathing suit styles...id say thats not as bad. the171
It's all about poise. I have a friend who is competing in for Miss Teen Louisiana.
Lilllabettt
If your boyfriend expressed excitement to watch the swimsuit competition, would you be offended? If he watched the swimsuit competition intently, never taking his eyes of the screen, would you be uncomfortable with that?If yes, why?The swimsuit competition is like porn in the same way that stripping is like prostitution. It is the same kind of thing, merely a question of degree. There is a reason this is the highest rated section of Miss America. There is a reason, friends. The people who make the show, the girls who walk in the show, and the people who watch the show all know what the reason is. It is not because people are interested in swimsuits. But honestly the entire idea of a beauty pageant is disgusting and beneath the dignity of a woman.Men have a test of poise - its called Speech and Debate. It requires a brain and not a hair blow dryer.

Lilllabettt
Then why do gay men watch it? Checkmate, atheists. probably for the same reason most women watch it - to make sassy remarks critical of the women on display. Or to engage in a ritual of cathartic self-loathing (similar to the "i'm so fat" ritual)

Gabriela
I had a student give a speech on beauty contests and apparently they're supposed to be scholarship competitions. At least that's how they started, so she said. And now they've descended into... well, beauty contests.

Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
Then why do gay men watch it? Checkmate, atheists. I think and i may be wrong, because Gay is a choice not a birth rite, and deep down somewhere inside they love and respect women, including there bodies and not just there mind, heart and soul, as do i, and it doesn't have to be sexual to love a womens body although in partnership and marriage it does, even priests respect and love womens bodies, and also there have been some lay married saints whom have commited there marriage and lives to celibacy, but also marital chastity is very powerful. I personally don't know either way whether swimsuit comps are in anyway pornographic but i have an inkling there not to be classed as pornographic or even erotic unless the dancing is designed to be erotic whether or not they only use excessively beautiful women or not, the beauty of every women is a gift from God, mind, heart, body and soul. But anyhow these are just my thoughts.
Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
<edit> I'm not offended by women whom have beautiful looks, nore am i offended by women with a beautiful mind whom don't have the assumed looks, perhaps though there could be more classes of swimsuit comps, perhaps a beautiful mind swimsuit comp and you have to have a certain level of i.q. or level of education, perhaps it's not the beautiful women that's the problem but that it is a competition instead of just a swimsuit catwalk type thing. God is Good.
