one more thought on this
its not that im against a secular artist talken about Jesus
the only problem i have, is when their cd has a parental advisory sticker
and the whole album their talking about unGodly stuff, i jus think its way hipicritcal for them to make a song about God, and fool people into thinking that their music is inspired by God, cuz i dont think it is.......like say Nick Cannon does a song about Jesus, i might be able to dig that, cuz at least his cd isnt filled with violence and obsenities.....although it has alot of fornication on it......my boy has his cd, i was looken at the liner notes, and he thanks God, and thanks Jesus Christ for letting the holy spirt flow through him and make him strong everyday.....so i guess with me, it isnt neccesarily about secular music, its jus about if all your stuff is opposite to wut God stands for, then why would you make a song about God
peace

actually,

since God is the ulitmate Creator. Artists of any form can NOT create without the Holy Spirit. It is impossible. All Creative power comes from the Father and all artists create by the Grace of God. So, secular artists can not help but to create with the influence of God. Most people distort the creative Grace bestowed upon them, but still, the source is from up above....
Can they write about Jesus if they want? Yes. I honetstly think that Christ does dwell in Secular rappers, howver they have not disconvered Him yet. That realtionship has not been cultivated yet. Maybe these "Jesus" songs were something these rappers had to do - in thier exploration of thier oun spirtuality and humaness.
hey

u gotta be stuffin me. Well why dont we go further and say, all creativity comes from God, hence every heretic, schiso, infidel has been inspired by Elohim. Elohim gives them the creativity, and talents, ITS THEM WHO DECIDES HOW TO USE IT, not God, if you think God does, BANG Free Will's gone.

God gives free will... God gives inspiration... some feel it more strongly than others and act on it as was taugh to them or just introduced to them, however not all creativity comes from God, because there are some creative things that arepretty whacked out... God gives us the grace of creativity lets just say that, how we use our creativity is up to us

First of all, as someone who listens to A LOT of rap, Kanye West has quite a bit less swearing than your average emcee, although that does not dismiss he uses questionable language. He is in the category of what I'd call midstream. He may lay on the bling and disrespect of women in some, yet he has a point.

I hear the n word, sh*t and h*ll. Yes it's swearing, but even if the topic of the song is Jesus, West isn't going to change his style completely. He isn't even so much as trying to bring Jesus to his listeners, as just stating that he loves Jesus. "I ain't here to argue about his facial features/ or here to convert atheists into believers/ I'm just tryna say the way school need teachers/ the way Kathy Lee needs Regis is the way I need Jesus."

Anyways back to the topic at hand, is one who believes in Him not allowed to praise him since he lives a life of sin? Do we really know he lives a life of sin? Jesus promotes forgiveness, West has turned his life around. So since he raps about his previous life of sin using the vocabulary of a rapper he can't be as good of a Christian as you or I? He is not in ANY way a contemporary Christian rapper, and he does not claim he is! He just loves Jesus. He's fighting the temptations of all the horrors in our world, and since he fails at one or two, he cannot be a role model?

And finally, I think West is toying around with how far his freedom of speech can go. One can write song about sex, war and racism, yet when religion is brought up there is an uproar. This is what one in the music industry wants, they want people to discuss their music, because it will cause people to take a second listen, as I hope all of you have before you've stated your opinions. You can't make it without taking a risk, and he's taken a big one with releasing this song, but if it helps just one person who is feeling the same way as him, would you not say he has done his part in salvation?

Just some things to think about. Please argue me on any contradictions or what not, I'm up for a good debate. I voted neither, just to mention. I'm not trying to convince myself in anyway this is what Jesus would want to hear.

the hereteics, shismatics, and all the others are not artists... there is a difference between knowledge and creativity... obidience and creation. I am speaking about art, you are speaking about people openly defiing Christ's Church (aka the Holy Spirit). We as artists have the choice to make good art (that reflects God) or bad art (that does not reflect God). Hence, all creative power is not of our own, but comes from the Creator. (Let's see you try to argue that God is not Creator of all...) you got me all wrong bro. try again.

are you an artist?

First off, sorry bout my other post on Kanye. I didn't see this one. I wanna bring up another song on the CD, "never let me down". I'm not quite sure what to think of it, if its good or bad. I don't get a reference or 2, especialy the one at the ens about the Pope. Check the lyrics out.

Wow! This lasted longer than I thought it would.

Flip, I have issues with the Creator of All. God is Love, right? God is Creator of All, right? What about sin, evil, and Satan? All exist in this world, so God must have created them.

Tracey, I don't know Kanye personally, but though his album is about being a dropout and "turning his life around" I would almost guarantee he's getting it every night from a different woman. Not a Christian behavior mind you. I have no issue with cussing and swear words (these change over time), but the mindset is troubling.

All this talk about Jesus walking with these sinners. That is NOT the case. Do you know how Satan works? Satan loves to trap you with things that appear good and holy when they are actually sin and evil. The Lord reigns justice on sinners; read the Old Testament. You cannot expect God to forgive you of sin if you look Jesus in the eye and spit in it. :o

First off, I believe that Jesus walks with everyone, but it is each person's choice to pay attention to Him.

Second, you say that the Lord reigns justics on sinners. This is true. But all sinners can repent and be forgiven.

Third, you can expect God to forgive the sin of spitting in Jesus's eye. You must truly be sorry for it, but if you are, then God will forgive you. I have heard that the only unforgivable sin is to not believe in the Holy Spirit's power to forgive you.

God does forgive the repentant sinner, however, where does Kanye show he's sorry, show repentance, and show that he's making a change to try and stop his sinful ways?

These people believe God will forgive them no matter what so they're going to do whatever they please. Live however they want to live. Sin as much as they want. This is simply not the case! There is no sorrow, no repentance, no reparation in a life, or to make matters worse, a soul like this. God will not forgive that, plain and simple.

God will forgive anything except believing one cannot be forgiven so long as there is repentence. Also, you cannot judge whether or not Kanye West is repentant or not. You just cannot know that. I know all arrows point to the fact that he is not sorry, but he could be. He could feel that his life is going in a bad direction and want to change it, but he could be having trouble changing it. I know it may sound farfetched, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.
