NotreDame
Autocorrect. In what world is any major force (political parties, news networks et cetera) on the political left or right claiming that the job market is great. Even MSNBC has tons of stuff on how bad the job market is. It's an entirely subjective observation and I could be wrong. Rright now I'm stuck at my parents where they watch fox news all the time and even there I don't see people attacking the economy or unemployment all that much. I'm not really as old as this makes me sound, but during the reagan years even when the economy was booming, there were still nightly specials on "the homeless epidemic" on CBS, NBC, ABC, 60 minutes, 20/20, PBS. In my mind, that's what the current economic state of affairs calls for. I think that were it not for the magic fairy dust inside the Fed's spreadsheets, that official unemployment would be well over 10%. Meanwhile, companies are having MAJOR layoffs as we speak and it's not even making the news. For instance, did you know HP is laying off 30K people? 10K at Cisco? And the list goes on. All with the market at all time highs. Anyway, it's all subjective, but as an avid newswatcher from a very early age, I'm find this to be woefully under-reported.
