Lil Red
Could someone please explain this in layman's terms for me? When I think of bitcoin I think of Super Mario Bros. or maybe another video game where virtual coins are only used for virtual goods. reason.com just did an article on this. they have great articles. :) here it is: http://reason.com/archives/2013/11/19/bitcoin-more-than-money Edited November 19, 2013 by Lil Red

Nihil Obstat
Curiouser & curiouser.....I get it, but not really....what would happen if more & more groups of pholks flooded the market with their own "money"? If they caught on, then overall the value of Bitcoin would probably fall, but it is not a zero-sum game. And deflation is not necessarily awful. Aloysius
so when ppl say you can't make money mining bitcoins, it's because you're paying for the electricity? so if you're in some kind of university dormitory and don't pay for electricity... could you make at least some money with an average computer (like a laptop) seeing as you're not paying for the electricity? or would an ordinary computer not be enough to generate anything worthwhile?
