southern california guy
I can't believe it. It is the middle of November and the weather has been in the 70's during the day, and the 50's at night. Spectacularly good weather -- even for San Diego California. It's not subtropical here, it is downright tropical -- without the humidity!!! Some of the orchids that we've got outside in pots are starting to put out flowers and will probably bloom soon. Our deciduous fruit trees have not even lost all of their leaves. I'm going to have to pick them off by hand to put them into dormancy (A trick you can use to grow apples, and certain cherries in the tropics). Even our little mangosteen tree is doing just fine and needs no protection. It is weird.. I know that certain people will rush to proclaim "Global Warming!" but I am still skeptical about that -- as skeptical as I was about Carl Sagan's "Little Ice Age" (Which never fully happened). I've got a Bachelors degree in Geology, and the rock record has a record of climate changes like this one occurring off and on for the past 6.4 billion years. Sometimes the warm weather lasted a fairly long time. I like it! I ski and ice skate, and play hockey, but I have never really been a fan of cold weather. I doubt that this "climate change" is man-made, and I seriously doubt that any environmentalist is going to be able to spoil it. And I know that changes in the climate in the past have led to extinctions, but I figure that is a small cost for the great advantages of this warmer climate. And I, for one, am going to really enjoy this!!!!
