Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
I checked out other images of rhodochrosite and in general it's not square, perhaps that piece has been cut that way, the goethite is naturally almost a perfect square. I've always liked rocks, rocks rock. And the snow flakes look heavenly arfink, amazing, supposedly there is no one snowflake that is identical. Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
I can't find anything else square on google, except goethite. Under the title natural square crystals and natural square rocks.

Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
Calcite, ok there's one, more oblong though. I just tried to post my first pictures here at phatmass, and it was a round wall clock, the full moon, a round hut and a round natural bath, and the site said i can't post those images on this site. <edit> I think your calcite image iz cut by man, just checked some other images of calcite. Nihil Obstat
Calcite is technically trigonal rhombohedral, and it is known for taking on a pretty wide variety of other shapes. "Calcite crystals are trigonal-rhombohedral, though actual calcite rhombohedra are rare as natural crystals. However, they show a remarkable variety of habits including acute to obtuse rhombohedra, tabular forms, prisms, or various scalenohedra. Calcite exhibits several twinning types adding to the variety of observed forms. It may occur as fibrous, granular, lamellar, or compact. Cleavage is usually in three directions parallel to the rhombohedron form. Its fracture is conchoidal, but difficult to obtain." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calcite

Nihil Obstat
Not square, but antimony crystals are particularly striking, and definitely not 'soft' or round.
Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
That's practically a square, nice one, i would class that as naturally square. Do you like rocks and gems also Nihil ? :) Edited November 16, 2013 by Tab'le De'Bah-Rye

Do you like rocks and gems also Nihil ? :) I had a big interest in rocks and minerals as a kid, and I have enough of a basic familiarity with chemistry and geology to understand how crystal structures work. Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
Not square though, Does anyone know what those almost naturally round rocks that you cut in half and they have the crystals inside are called?

Cool. I used to be a bit of a rock scavanger when i was young, even into my teenage years, and i still do it on the rare occasion. My latest find was at the river and it is practically round, i wish i had a camera to take a photo of it and load it onto the computer and post it, i don't even know how to do that though even if i had a camera, lol. El Stupido iz meh. I have to go to the shop and get something to eat. See you later. God bless. Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
Geodes are cool. The rainbow rocks. Perhaps the rock i have found is a geodes, i'm going to take it to a friend whom used to be a jeweler and loves all things rock and gem.
