How Do You Respond

i dunno if i like your "compared to who" (actually it should be "compared to whom") because to me it sounds like you are being sarcastic.

I usually smile really big and say, I'm well, thanks for asking! And how are you?

I usually actually take the time to stop and see their response, instead of making into a passing thing, like you don't care.

I worked retail too long, so I know it's frustrating when you (as a sales clerk) ask somebody and they ignore you.
