dUSt
http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2013/11/8/texas-abortion-banforcessickwomanoutofstate.html The headline reads: Texas abortion ban forces sick woman out of state I commented on the article: "Wow. Being pregnant is considered being "sick" now? When my wife was pregnant with our children she was just "sick" the whole time? Nice headline Al Jazeera. And here I thought you were the last unbiased news source left." And predictably, my comments have been replied to with "Did you even read the article?" lol Fuzzy Bunny Crusaders, mount up! Basilisa Marie
Hold up… it says that she has a “life-threatening genetic disease,†which is unspecified. That said, Red 7 standing by. Right, but the reason she decides to seek an abortion is that she learned that her child would have the same disease. Effectively she's saying that it would have been better if she hadn't ever been born, too. She needs serious help, but abortion isn't the answer. NotreDame
The comment thread won't load for me but.... >>> Suddenly Florence had no choice but to travel out of state for the procedure she desperately wanted. So she caught an overnight bus to Albuquerque, N.M. Something is fishy... Houston is 13 hours from albuqurque, but only 90m from the Louisiana border... >>> Such generosity is not unusual. Across the U.S. there are grass-roots organizations set up to help low-income women like Florence have access to abortions. In most states, Medicaid won’t pay for an abortion unless the woman’s life is at risk What? That's BS. I knew a girl in Texas that had an abortion at about 24yo and medicaid paid for it - a couple of her friends got pregnant around the same time - medicaid paid for that too. All they had to do is, when signing up, say that they intended to have the baby, then after their first checkup they say they want an abortion and it's all free - maybe things have changed in the past few years, but I feel like we would have heard about it were that the case - and with obamacare tying into medicaid this just seems so unlikely. Maybe worthy of googling to find out.

AnneLine
I wanted to clarify... in case anyone misconstrues... Snoopy is ready to do whatever is needed to support mom and child. There is NO NEED for this to happen. Snoopy's copilot and navigator (aka AnneLine) is pretty appalled that the newspaper is running this story, because most traditional Moslems are as appalled at the notion of abortion as we are.... and we are praying for all involved.... Al Jazeera's mostly trying to be a "report the facts" type of news organization, so they're not really interested in being a Muslim news station. She she doesn't know for sure that the baby would really prefer to be dead she could go the last couple of months and deliver the baby. And then after having the baby she could have them kill her. But I don't really think that she would go for that........ Somehow she seems to want to be alive... while wishing that her baby were dead.... hmmm..
