ContemporaryCaflicCrusader
Perhaps I can make some sense of this. There is actually a Catholic old testament book translated to English by Tolkien who, not to beat a dead horse, but was an exceedingly devout Catholic. It was one of the books in the wisdom section and it was the American Bible or the Jerusalem Bible can't remember. Not the new but the regular old American or Jerusalem Bible: Can't remember couldn't take notes that fast that class. Would be worth the research if someone had the time/tools to do so. My Brother in law was a philosophy Major (unfortunately) at a Catholic college. Providence College his ending thesis paper was making comparisons and such between the character Tom Bomadil (Who is excluded from the movies) and Christ. My Bro in law had a screaming GPA too. That is not blasphemy, we all aim to imitate Christ's teachings such as Tom Bomadil in the story, we and perhaps Tom at times? Just fail miserably. I, in particular, am not really into Lord of the Rings really because it's an acquired taste, I think. Perhaps I'm just not bright enough to really enjoy it lol. Love Treebeard though, but I'm super Arachnophobic so that really doesn't help either. The magic part, if kids can't get the difference they should wait until they understand that magic is bad and can be ok for storytelling. At that point they would be green lit in my fam to read the books and the movies at 13 if I thought they were ready which I wasn't at that age regardless of spiders and magic the imagery was a lot for me at the time. I was homeschooled and sheltered pretty well. However I am not the father of childern so I can talk about setting up rules for them until I'm blue in the face and it makes no difference. In the meantime The Wizard of Oz is in the Vatican's top 45 movies ever made list and watching it at age 5 never got me in need of an excorcist. This was not a personal attack on/at anyone. Flip flopping on whether or not you like/hate/are offended by/believe is practically a private relvelation to/ a major entertainment franchise just means your human. Most of us have done it more than once.
Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
Vaticans top 45 movie list, lol. As if that exists seriously, never heard of it, are you sure it's not a internet prank. And anyway even if it does exist i doubt it's taken supremely seriously just like some posts on phatmass. But also i was just thinking and got a bit of revelation about Lord of the rings and J.R. Tolkeins mind set. So this is it, The lead wizard solom or whatever his name is falls from grace, so if it is true that the wizards represent angels then he believed angels can still fall from grace or is this a blazing mistake, or can angels still fall from grace and was solom the arch michael and if so it conjours up in my mind that perhaps demons can be captured locked up serve there time and repent. See why this movie is so dangerous ? I really don't get why he didn't use angels as the magical leaders instead of wizards, wizards are actual people that believe they have magical abilities and i doubt we can beat the evil one or any evil with magic, or perhaps we can. Can christians also be wizards, see how murky this is getting? Edited November 16, 2013 by Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
I would happily be a catholic wizard if it where allowed, i think i may have natural magical abilities, do we all, is it only in the realm of angels, and weren't there angels in genesis that mated with the offspring of adam and eve. Is this getting even murkier now ? I'm serious i think either magic is good or it isn't, i honestly don't know. Than is magic the same as demonology and qujah, psychics, tarot and things like that or is it something different, please don't tell me LOFTR is ok if you don't know the answer as to what magic is and what magic isn't. I don't know anymore so i'm not saying lord of the rings is good or bad anymore, i just don't know, do you anymore? Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
Just remember every one ' I don't know ' is partial credit(half a mark) and better then being X'd. You can pass class easier with i don't knows than with X's, but of course if you know the answer you get a correct tick which is worth more than a partial credit but also this is not who want's to be a millionaire where you have to answer every question, that's just entertainment. Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
please don't mock me CatflicCrusader, i'm being deadly serious, and i don't click with strangers ie: your site post. Mocking is dangerous dude, someone may knuckle you in the face, be care full please and have some consideration, and i don't care if your tough and can take a smack in the chops, violence isn't good and you shouldn't start it like i feel you just have, mockery usually offends most people whether they say so or not and can lead to suicide or violence. Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
My big point about so called entertainment is it isn't nothing it is something and you all fool yoursleves as to that it is nothing. Garbage in Garbage out, what goes in must come out. Entertainment is destroying our church for real. But hell will never overcome the church so if i'm in some kind of remnant in the future so be it, we will build again with the grace of God. ContemporaryCaflicCrusader
I didn't see that as mocking. Perhaps it easily could be taken as so and I apologize on the other hand punching me and all apology accepted. Just trying to shed light on the fact that Lord of the Rings is entertainment and if we never got entertained another minute in our lives we would probably be fine. The amount of thought and time and money going into entertainment these days can make it a god so to speak. Again sorry to cause you grief, was certainly not my intention. I don't do personal attacks here.
Anastasia13
Now this has become a flood, sorry, i was led to believe on the odd occasion it is okay in the lame board. I won't make a habit of it. Last one to say i care and i'm sorry if in this post i became an attacker instead of a defender... http://youtu.be/QpdWDSX8tlY You know, just last night before going to bed, I was wondering if I was ever going to make it in this life. And i never said i would punch you, i said mockery can get you one i didn't say i was going to give it bro, i don't do that, i punch with the truth as i understand it. Fisting the world with love at times i guess, but also i'm not always throwing punches half the time i'm hugging. Love = Mercy and Justice.
