Pax domini...

I'm not listening to anyone ever again about entertainment, i listened to some here and one other local christian i know and trusted them that the lord of the rings is a good movie, i took this as being something that can help us to be good Christians and more Christ like ie: GOOD. I just watched half of the hobit because before i quit entertainment i had already seen the series of movies the lord of the rings. And what made me stop watching it is the elvin queen the lady of elron or whatever it's called spoke to gandalf in his mind telepathically , if only this one bit gets children thinking about telepathy and other psychic phenomenon then the whole movie becomes a loss to me. And now i can't get magic and wizards out of my brain. I will get over it, but no thanks.

JESUS IZ LORD!

Nihil i'm enraged that i wasted an hour and a half of my precious life on that crap, but am glad i didn't waste another hour and a half watching the whole thing. And in case you didn't realize life is very precious and the time we have here, i don't have enough time to waste on entertainment anymore, I've already wasted enough of that time with mindless pursuits. And i'm not calling into question whether Tolkien in general was a good catholic christian or not in general, that's not my business to judge him personally because no one is perfect. I just don't like wasting my time anymore, but i will judge what i saw of the hobbit according to my conscience and it was mindless crap, particularly the pagan reference of telepathy which the supposed good queen and wizard where using and that's where i switched off, Jesus states no man(human) can read another mans mind, and i don't care if the wizards are meant to be angels and whatever the elves are meant to be they all look human enough to most, particularly children, it's the principle.

Pretty much my judgement is that watching the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit will not make you a better christian, will not help you to become more Christ like. I would love it if you actually hate me for that judgement, i'm not afraid to make what i believe to be just judgments on matters of faith and morals. If they hated me more so will they hate you, i think Jesus said that. Jesus made just judgments in his parables on matters of faith and morals, and yes i know i'm not Jesus but yes also where called to be like Jesus according to what we know and understand on any matter. If we don't know or understand don't make a judgement, which i don't when i don't have even an inkling of what is going on.

Consider it a waste of time if you like. Don't go around telling people it's evil because it has magic in it. They are two different things, and one is simply incorrect.

This is the first time Ive seen someone say the magic in Lord of the Rings is evil. Usually its just Harry Potter

lol your hectic Nihil, hopefully not heretic, settle down, i hope you defend Jesus with such vigor. I never even used the word evil in this thread, your lying about me. So sad for you. I said that i didn't like the telepathy bit in the hobbit, it spoiled the whole movie for me and is a pagan concept, scroll up and read in it's entirety what i said.

It may be evil or not, i don't know. And on the whole magic thing as well a priest told me when it comes to magic that 'at the least your creating a false GOD and at worse your asking demons to do your bidding', that's the reality of magic dear old lord of the rings fails to tell us, and i'm going to try and avoid it at all cost, i used to be a practicing wizard and became telepathic which where actually demons speaking to me in my mind, what sayeth you to that nihil?

Part of your misunderstanding is the wizards who use magic in LOTR are not humans. They look human, but are mayar which means they are essentially supernatural beings similar to angels, and so have abilities that humans do not have. Elves are the same way. It is in their nature to be able to do the things which they can do. Magic as humans usually understand it is wrong because it goes against our nature to have those kinds of powers except as granted to us by God, but in Tolkien's made-up world, it makes sense that non humans could have these powers because they are just different creatures.

To dangerous for me arfink . Creating a false God or getting demons to do your bidding, angel or not, sounds bad to me according to what this priest told me on the matter of magic. And nihil i still suffer from this telepathic lie to this day but aye alleluia i have been granted the grace to recognize it for what it is, DEMONS! I think the mind is a battlefield, be very careful of what you listen to in your mind, and what you put into your mind.

I'm sorry i said heretic nihil, but i didn't accuse of being a heretic, i was just offended that you would say i said evil when i didn't, though it may be. I reacted without a thought. Sorry. But i do hope one day you understand the seriousness of magic and other dark arts as a practicing christian member of the holy roman catholic church.

I'm going to be perfectly blunt here Tab, I do not think you are as capable of distinguishing fantasy from reality as other people. For that reason, I am willing to endorse what you say here as quite prudent. I'll pray for you.

Tolkein was a devout Catholic. The whole scene with Galadriel wasn't in the book; it was added by the scriptwriters. End of story.

If reading or watching a work of fiction causes you to believe you have actually experienced direct demonic influence, your grasp on reality is not as strong as a normal person.
