Patron Saints 2014

Lil Red

you've received St. Dominic Savio. :)

Thank you, Li'l Red. I admit my first thought was "OH WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH A LITTLE BOY SAINT?"

And then I read his bio and realized....yeah...he's my guy for this year, alright.

Thanks.

A wonderful tradition.  God bless you for this apostolate!  Our community has the same tradition every year on New Year's Eve.  Each sister has her Patron according to her religious name and a patron for each year.  The whole community of professed sister and the Novitiate also have a patron for the year!  :)

Oops, I posted this first in last year's thread!  :hehe2:

Hello, Lil' Red! Thank you for offering this. It's an unfamiliar tradition for me!

I confess I'm a little nervous to ask for a patron, since I have special patrons already (St. John Bosco, St. Teresa of Avila, St. Bernadette--and, of course, my Confirmation saint--the Blessed Mother)--and I don't want to neglect them! However, I understand this is an invitation to form a relationship with a particular saint--and I think that's beautiful.

That said, I could really use some help in 2014. I'm turning 26 this year and want to pursue religious life, but I can't do that unless my health improves, and my health won't improve unless I become courageous enough to try new treatments (I'm so afraid to try new things that might help--but might also hurt). I want so much for this new year to be the one in which my health issues stop holding me back, but the fact is I'm probably holding myself back by not being proactive enough! Also, special intentions for my mother and my sister to heal (physically and emotionally) are intensely in my prayers right now.

Thank you again and God bless you! I will keep you in my prayers.

My name is Kylie, I'm a college student, discerning the religious life, revert to the Faith. (Do you need more info? LOL) As far as intentions, I would like to mention my family and for healing within it, and for the young lady I am sponsoring for RCIA. :)

Isn't there a website that generates a patron saint for you too? It gave me St. Theresa of Avila for this year. Excited to see who I get next year!! :D

Lil Red, I just wanted you to know that St. Stephen is a really good patron for me this year. :saint: Not only being the first martyr, he was made a deacon to help widows & the poor....& I know he will be encouraging me to help my mom this year. :) Thank you...

Kylie - your patron is Our Lady of the Rosary. :)

I'll be honest, I hate those random saint generators. Reason being, I like praying for the person that I'm helping the Holy Spirit pick a saint for, and I hope that the person who is asking for a patron appreciates the prayers and the personal touch.

edit: just to add - I'm not saying that they are wrong, or that people are wrong for choosing to use them. just my personal opinion here.
