Staying Quiet

I am taking a health law and ethics course for my major and my professor was discussing reproductive rights yesterday - specifically abortion. She mentioned that she is pro - choice even though she doesn't agree with abortion and she also believes that life begins at conception. Because of this controversy I felt it best not to say anything specially since this is a State University and not a Catholic University. Was doing this a sin? If so how do I handle this in the future? I just did not want to say anything and start an argument in class . instead, I did homework.
