Breviary In Latin/english

Does anyone know of a Latin/English Breviary using the NAS translation please? 

I am trying to find for a Priest (the one whose Sermons I post here each week)

 

As far as we can ascertain the one widely available in the UK is Jerusalem Bible. Or there is a 1961 (Baronius Press) which is not what he wants.We tried Midwest Theolgical Forum, a publisher he is familar with, and Paxbook but came up with nothing.....perhaps it does not exist??

 

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 I don't think it can exist as the NAS translation is not even a Catholic translation.

I think what you are looking for is a book version of the Liturgy of the Hours /Roman Breviary in Latin/English that uses NAB.  I am not sure this exists.

 

I don't read enough Latin to be able to pray the Liturgy with understanding in that language--although I remember starting out that way in the 1970's, but didn't know what the words meant!

 

I don't know if this would help Father at all, but if he could make use of an on-line version, it would appear that it might be available through this source--it indicates on can 'pull up' whatever translation of the English one wishes.  It is possible one needs to purchase the entire 'library' to use this book... but that might not be a bad thing either, if not too expensive!  Looks like they have many interesting things!

I am a bit curious, if Father is willing to share... is there a reason he does not like the Baronius Press edition?  That appears to be the one that is the most common, so I am curious to know why he does not like that one.

Thank you AnneLine  and Byzantine, I appreciate your input and the fact that you have taken the trouble to reply. I have looked on the website you suggested and have not been successful but it was certainly worth a try, and there are lots of other interesting on there for future use.

Anne Line there is no mystery about Baronius, it is just that Father was hoping for something more up to date than 1962, and even that is unavailable at present.

He values Logos very highly indeed, they were wonderful when he changed computers a little while ago, couldn't have been more helpful. However he would not pray the Office electronically except in an emergency.

There appears to be free phone numbers (probably only good in USA) to ask questions.... if you want, I'd be happy act as a go-between if Father has questions. 

 

If Father can be very specific about what he wants, I'll see  if I can track it down for you.  It would also help to know what he does NOT want -- clarifying that he doesnt' just want a reprint of the 1962 materials is a big help.

 

I also live near San Francisco in California (where Ignatius Press is located); they may also have some ideas where such a book might be found -- if it does exist. 

 

I would also think that some of the more traditional religious communities (Ryde Abbey on Isle of Wight?) or one of the communities that focuses on bringing traditional liturgy back might have some leads for Father.

 

I totally understand how he feels about using a book versus using a computer.  Some people I know say that using a 'tablet' (like Kindle Fire or something comparable) feels more like a book.  Some of our senior Secular Order members are finding using those very helpful because they can get the print as large as they need it.  BUT we are holding out strong that they NEED to buy and know how to use the books.  It looks pretty funny to see people in community praying looking at tablets!  BUT I guess that is how the earlier generation of monks must have felt seeing people holding those funny little breviaries!    Once upon a time WE would have been the young upstarts!

Father thanks you all for your suggestions. Today he visited the Cathedral Bookshop in Salford (Manchester) and saw the Newman one (Lauds and Vespers) that you suggested Reminiscere, and he is going to get it. It is hard to find any information about the Adoremus one but as Amppax pointed out it is1962, pity, but thanks for trying. You have all been been so kind, prayers for all of you, God Bless you all.
