Na No Wri Mo!

Is anyone else here doing NaNoWriMo? I'm probably crazy to even try, but I'm going to try anyway....

I think BG has done it before, and Lounge Daddy, but is not currently active.

NaNoWriMo: National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to write 50,000 words during the month of November. Oh, and not to fail all of your classes if you're in college. Which means that I'm going to try to a) do my homework, and b) write 2,000 words a day. I don't know if I'll actually manage it, though.

Not The Philosopher

I have done it twice, but only succeeded once. My 'completed' novel was absolute crap, but my incomplete one actually still has some (I think) potential if I ever decide to go back to work on it.

I'm tempted to do it again this year, but I've got midterms, and I'm not sure what I'd even write about.

I've won it several times, but don't know if I can this year...I'll probably be defending my Dissertation Proposal that month.  I think I'll still try to write a sequel to last year's though.  I think I could pound it out in a week if I dedicated enough time to it, like over Thanksgiving...

NaNo is a wonderful exercise is creativity, or finding out what kind of stuff you'll put just to get word count....

I'm gonna do it!  I've never been able to in the past, because November was always a big term paper month for me.

Like for those who'd rather not google: http://nanowrimo.org/

It's actually a really cool thing to encourage people to ignore their inner editor/angry negative voices in their heads and just sit and practice writing and storytelling. There's even a young writer's program for kids.

NaNoWriMo is so much fun! I tried it once but wasn't successful...though got pretty close to the word limit. I could probably try it again this year given that I won't have uni. :)

One of my friends in college was a HUGE fan of this. Our freshman year, she got a whole group of us to try: I think I stopped after the first week or so, lol. I tried looking for my results, but I think I lost them :( Oh well.

Too bad it's right during the busy season of the semester :(

I know.... I'm crazy. The week after Nano is over will be the week before finals. I have no idea how this will end.

And anyone who's doing it: Add me as a writing buddy on the website and send me a message explaining who you are. I have the same username and profile pic, since I figure that'll make it easier for me to not lose track of myself over the internet and I'm not terribly creative with screen names anyway.
