"Fun Size." The greatest marketing scam in the history of scams. Nobody wants mini size, but who can refuse fun size?

Perhaps 3 phun size in honor of the Trinity?   Of course, it is All Saints day, and you don't want to dis any of those saints, so enjoying a few thousand sounds even better.....

beat me to it, not the philosopher.

it's the solemnity of all saints day, no penance is required.  for most fridays of the year, however, Nihil is correct--either no meat, or substitute it with some other special Friday penance.  this is never necessary the Friday after Christmas and the Friday after Easter, and actually I'm not sure since they got rid of the octave of Pentecost I guess that Friday is no longer a solemnity... but also on any Friday that happens to have a solemnity on it.

it is traditional to do some kind of fasting or penance on the day before a solemnity, but it is not required.  yesterday being Halloween one wouldn't really expect anyone in the USA to have done that but it is nice to do when one thinks of it for other solemnities... it is Catholic to fast as it is Catholic to feast :smokey:

Today is a solemnity, is it not? Doesn't that obviate Friday's penitential nature?

Oh, good call. I forgot because someone's national episcopal conference has done away with most of the Holy Days of Obligation. ;)

well the question was because it's Friday, and all Fridays are penitential days throughout the year.  but yes, a solemnity trumps a penitential day, so All Saints Day makes this no longer a penitential day.  a solemnity doesn't have to be a holy day of obligation.

I wish more of them were though. :sad2: I have a hard time feeling connected to the liturgical cycle outside of Sundays.

Josh, I'm fasting from candy today too.

Interesting. I'm not familiar with solemnity. Something to look up.

it is Catholic to fast as it is Catholic to feast :smokey:

I like this line.
