We're getting married down here in Alabama near my home.  We're still not going to be able to be together full time due to his work projects and my daughter finishing up high school, so we'll still be commuting for a little over a year after the wedding.

Aww thanks so much, and welcome!  I post quite infrequently these days due to schedule, but if you hang around long enough us old fogeys pop up from time to time.

That'll be me.  Once the chitlin graduates then I'm heading up to become a good subject of the Queen.

Your daughter can be on your immigration application. That way, if she wanted to take a job in Canada, she could. I'd start the paperwork as soon as you get married because it can take months. They can actually turn you away at the border after marrying until you have your immigration finished. The border people have way too much power, and some like to use it. They will say you don't intend to leave the country. Have your physical done in Canada while visiting because it is much cheaper. Save all you plane tickets, letters, and emails if possible. You have to prove you aren't paying him to marry you so that you can immigrate.
