Nihil Obstat
This is just a countdown thread in disguise. <_< I want a countdown!
TheresaThoma
Ummm I can't think of anything entertaining right now. I will try to find something for you in the near future. In the meantime I will allow my geekiness to take over and amuse you in a different fashion. It has come to my attention that the average person reads at about one hundred and eighty words per minute on a monitor. For this application a word is five characters including spaces.Which means that by the time you have finished reading this message you will have spent about one point seven minutes reading. This means given that you are approximately five hundred eighty four thousand six hundred and forty minutes away from your wedding (that was the conversion of four hundred and six day to minutes) you are now two point eight eight times ten to the negative fourth percent closer to that time. I hope this has been suitably entertaining for now. I will be back with more later. Ok maybe I shouldn't have given it down to the minute but I needed all my units to work out so that is what you are stuck with. For those curious how I came up with all of this is I used wolframalpha.com for the days to minute conversion and then an online word count tool to figure out how many characters are in this message. I divided that by five to get the number of words and then using the one hundred and eighty word per minute conversion figure out the time. Take the reading time divided by the total time and multiply by one hundred to get the percentage. And yes this last part is simply to increase the word count. ChristinaTherese
This sentence has banana six words. (From some mathish guy who wrote cool stuff, maybe Douglas Hofstadter or something.) My brother used to have a few sentences like that memorized. I'm not sure if it's terribly entertaining, though.
TheresaThoma
I guess our nerdiness isn't very entertaining....

TheresaThoma
hehehe, every time i have tested it, i read around 650-800 words a minute. Yeah I think I read much faster than 180 but average values are much easier to work with.

AnneLine
I love it, Missy! And TheresaThoma.... strikes me that you could add an interesting element to that summer reading thread with that, if we do it again..... Congrats Marie-Therese and Jesus_LOL! We could set up a bunch of little bunnies or other characters and have them disappear.... kind of like what I did with dust's disappearing files a few months back.... Something like.... Posted 31 October 2013 - 07:44 AM Pretty much exactly what it says. Keep us entertained, distracted, informed, whatever. We've got 408 days to kill. If we use this key....
