I Need Clarity On What Is Spamming And What Isn't?

May the peace of our lord and saviour christ jesus be with you all.

Is any double post(one after the other spamming) and what of if it is the next day and no one else has posted there yet and you post again to clarify something or expand your initial response or topic, what about 3 days ? I need clarification as to what is considered spamming and what isn't, i wan't to abide by the forum rules if there decent and if i decide there not decent i will discontinue coming here till a later date to see if the rules have changed or i was tricked ? There must be rules to this new game, and i know it isn't a game and that somehow your trying to protect the members that post in phatmass from spamming but what exactly is spamming, if spamming exists there must be some kind of reason/rules as to what it is and isn't spamming. I wouldn't dare deliberately spam a forum if spamming is against the rules but what i do need to know exactly what spamming is because i don't know therefore can't adhere to the spamming rule. And are there classes of spamming is there malicious spamming and is there ordinary spamming, are all banned or some just frowned upon. And can you spam your own thread ? I know what flooding is and i'm definitely not flooding 99% of the time 2,3 or 4 posts in succession is not flooding in my mind, but tell me if it is in yours and i won't. Are you talking about flooding, i thought spamming is when you get junk mail in your email that you haven't applied for, and if it is about junk mail half the time people aren't talking about the topic here, i try my best to stick to the topic. Again what does phatmass consider as spamming, i need to know and i will desist in doing whatever it is that i'm doing wrong. We need boundaries on this if it is going to be a rule and someone or someones need to set these boundaries and post them when required or put them in the rules section. Please don't take this as someone trying to be smart, i'm serious i don't know where i stand with this.

Onward christian souls.

Jesus iz Lord.

And if somone has told me already exactly what it is i'm sorry i seem to have missed that post somehow. I have asked most of these questions i have asked in this thread multiple times already and have failed to get a response or somehow missed the response.

After lots of thought all i can perceive is that i can't post more then one or two threads per day or it may be spamming, and that i can't post more than 2 comments in a row or it may be considered spamming. Much love and peace to the pham if i go, and i hope you all get it worked out, may be back some other time to see how it is all going. Perhaps i am the problem at phatmass then this would mean no me at phatmass then no more problems, i can cop that if that would bring faith, hope, love and peace to phatmass, i'm happy to go on my own free will if this is the case then dUSt i'm happy for you to tell me so publicly or privately or boot me. I am really raw about 3 warnings in a row and a threat that i would be booted for something that i am yet to understand the parameters for. That's why i'm asking for the parameters as to what is and perhaps what isn't considered spamming on phatmass mikolbe.

I have great respect/consideration for the warnings i received and for everyone here, mods and dUSt included and still do if anyone thinks i don't. I take on board just about everything i see and am told here and think about it, and even pray for you all.

Now i think i'm spamming but again this is a question i have previously asked " can you spam a thread that you started?" I just wanted to add i intend to stay unless i'm booted or asked to leave, i love you guys very much, everyone from the none of the above and athiests to the chummy commoners and church millitants, well i try my best to anyway, but i am sorry for my post of trolls beware and the stryper song that was a bit overboard and un loving but i'm not always a great lover, though i try to be and consider myself pretty good most of the time if given half a chance.

Good posting:

Less than one topic per week UNLESS its the Lame board.  Notice not even Dust posts new threads more than that.  Hassan and Winchester have secret privileges...so don't follow them.

We have the multi-quote feature so multiple answers can be given.

Posting in reply to yourself.  LAME!  Thats like liking yourself on facebook.

Heya Tab - I'd say most of us are probably a bit reluctant to pass ourselves off as authorities on the rules. Might be worth contacting a moderator via PM? None of us can explain with authority what is allowed and what is not, only the people with authority can give you the right answer there.

OR... don't get so hung up on the rules (don't set out to break'em, either) but act in good conscience and hope for the best. Looks to me like you'll get a warning if you're doing something wrong (based on the recently published list of warning tallies ;) ), in which case humbly accept correction and learn from it, but don't take it personally.

Does that help a bit more?

I'd agree with Catherine above, that you would do better to ask the mods. I would add, too, that it's just often annoying to read 2 or more posts in a row almost every time you post. Maybe if you took a little more time thinking about your posts you could say everything you want in one post instead of posting a million times in a row?

I tried to edit my post and couldn't. So here is what I wanted to add:

I don't think all posting in succession is bad. If you do it as maybe two posts max once in a while, I don't think anybody minds. It's just when you post in succession every single time and post 3, 4, or even more times in a row most of those times that I at least start to ignore you. You have some great thoughts though. If you keep them concise and all in one post, I think everyone will be happy to see you around.

Fire is to hot, as Tab is to consecutive multiple posts. :p

Tab if you kept to just making one or two threads per week, and no more than two consecutive posts per thread, I think you would be OK.

stop replying to yourself in your own threads numerous times before anyone else has even responded to you.  its messed up when I see a topic started by you and there are close to 10 replies and they are all from you.  its really simple tab.  start a topic and do not reply to yourself and only reply to someone elses posts, not your own.

I would say come here everyday and post but as others have said just cut down on starting topics.....If you want to start a bunch of topics go to the lame board.....Also don't reply to yourself and mabey make your post shorter....Just some ideas....O and stay sober....God Bless !

well some of these things aren't really hard and fast rules... just sort of 'you know it (and we get a bunch of reports in about it) when you see it.  they're more socially acceptable norms than they are rules per se.  so the advice given here has been pretty good... because these aren't things that are going to be dictated to you by the mods... when the general phatmass population has the general sense that you're clogging up the boards and filling up their threads, you're generally violating dUSt's informal "don't ruin my website" rule ;)

the worst thing to do is the constant replying to yourself in other peoples' threads.  the other thing is try not to flood the board (especially open mic) with a bunch of new threads, suggestions here have been good, especially noting that in the lame board there's a bit more leeway for that sort of thing.  if you start one thread and keep all your replying to yourself confined to there, no one's really going to be bothered so much.  generally I recommend thinking about a post longer before you actually click the post button, since you always blame your multi-posts on the fact that you want to add something to a post.... one long post is better than ten short ones in succession... though long posts might get passed over depending on where they are and if people want to read them.

spam is basically floods of "unwanted" posts... so that's a subjective definition that's really up to the general consensus of the community here.  take your cues from the times that you have been told to 'stop spamming' and try not to post in those patterns... the general advice being given here has a good pulse on the sense of the community as to what level and kind of posting people would find more acceptable...
