I Seem To Have A Stalker

Well, you managed to get his religion out of him, but not how he knew your name. I think your priorities are unusual. You can guess about this forever, or just ask him next time you see him (if he really is stalking you, a fact of which I am not convinced) :P

I didn't ask him; he asked me where I was going, and I said to the Catholic church, and then he said which church he went to. It's not like I asked him or anything. I was more creeped out by the fact that he asked me where I was going. :P

Maybe he mistook you for someone else. How many times did he say your name in conversation? If you only heard it when he was across the street, maybe he said Niles, Mike, Milt, or something.

He definitely knew my name, there was no question about that. He said it several times.

Guess it depends on where you're from (or what you consider a highway), but a person tries to cross a highway here and they'd be dead before they went two steps...I have a weird visual of you waltzing across either a 2-lane road or a 6-lane death trap.

It was a 2-lane, but a 2-lane in Kansas is not the same as a 2-lane in New York. :P

And I don't really think he's a stalker. :P I just think he's a creepy/weird guy.

You keep missing the point here.

One, he waved and called out your name-pretty innocuous, although curious if you didn't recognize him.

Two - YOU crossed the road to get to him.

Three - YOU walked beside him all the way to the church AND answered his questions.

Four - YOU didn't seem to ask him any relevant questions at all and yet still deduced that He was stalking You!

It sounds to me like maybe you were stalking this guy- just because he happened to call out your name and wave. :p

Joking a little perhaps, but really FP - your behavior was a little weird here too. I would not have crossed a 2 lane highway to get to a complete stranger who just happened to call out my name. I would probably look at them and maybe give a hesitant wave to indicate that I wasn't sure who they were. If they crossed over to me, I would definitely say, 'Do I know you?' before I proceeded to walk with this person and I certainly wouldn't be answering any questions about myself until I had a few of my own answered, including how this person knew me and why they needed to know more.

Maybe I'm just not young and naïve any more, though. :)

1: He motioned me to come over.

2: I crossed the road because he motioned me to come over, even though I was feeling uncomfortable about it.

3: I didn't have a way to get out of it. If I had one, I assure you, I would have used it, but no excuse came to mind. His house happened to be two blocks away from the church, as misfortune would have it.

4: When I'm in uncomfortable situations, my mind sort of stops working and all I can think is "This is creepy... this is creepy... this is creepy..." instead of actually finding a solution like the smart person people claim I am. :P

As I said, I don't think he's actually stalking me. I just think he's a little weird and definitely shady and creepy.

Well, there's your problem right there - number 2. You crossed the road even though you felt uncomfortable about it. As for number 3 - you DID have a way to get out of it - just ignore him and NOT cross the road. You don't need an excuse to ignore creepy people you don't know.

I think just growing up will help you out with some of these things. I worked for nearly 20 years as a psychiatric nurse so I know creepy and I know crazy (not the technical term). I can handle crazy, but I ignore creepy.

He actually sounds a little pathetic. If he has a psychological or social disability then you probably have nothing to worry about- the creepy feeling is just because his behavior was probably not what you were used to. But one chance encounter doesn't make a stalker anyway. :)

You could've met him before and just completely forgot. I don't mean you met him a week ago, maybe a year ago in a pretty crowded place. Could be he has a knack for remembering names/faces. Maybe you don't remember because you had something on your mind then or were distracted when you met him.

I didn't think I could get out of it at that point because I knew he saw me, even though I technically could have ignored him. I was just always taught that you don't ignore people because ignoring them is rude. You're talking to a guy who can't not answer a phone when it's ringing. :P

Yeah, growing up will probably help. But if growing up means no more Disney, I want no part of it. :P

Yeah, that's a possibility.

First off, did you have your name on the back of your shirt/jacket?

Secondly, something similar happened to me, and it turned out to be a social worker assigned to do a surprise home study for our son right after we first got guardianship of him.

That was me.  I am everywhere.  I am nowhere.  All hail the glow cloud

I was going to say "don't worry it was just hasan." I'm sure your just making it well known in Miles new town that he has friends in high places and to not mess with him.(too much :) ) LOL if it was you. Miles pray for the person. Pray that you become good friends or acquaintances and pray he doesn't become an enemy, who needs enemies anyway. Pray, Pray and Pray again, and next time you see him and talk ask him if he knows Jesus.  :)

Hahahaha, no, I was wearing a plain black T-shirt with nothing on it. Though I did have my crucifix and Rosary on me. I swear, anyone who knows me could look at twenty people from the neck-down and tell which one was me due to the crucifix and Rosary. :P

I thought what we had was special, Miles.

I'm sorry! I didn't mean to make you upset! I promised to always be nice to you after you said I had what it takes to sing really well!
