PhuturePriest
As many of you know, I moved recently. Today, when I was walking in town and on my way to the church to pray and study (I love doing school at the church), a guy across the highway started yelling my name. I looked his direction and he waved, so I walked over to the other side, assuming he was a guy from my old town or something. However, I had never seen him before, and he showed no signs of ever meeting me before. He kept walking with me and talking to me the whole mile to the church. He was nice, but he seemed shady and kind of creepy. I was very relieved when I got to the church and away from him. None of this answers the question of how he knew my name. I had never met him before, he had never met me or anyone I know before, so it was just weird and creepy. EmilyAnn said he was possibly a lurker on Phatmass, but he couldn't read that well, so I highly doubt he spends his leisure time reading internet forums. As a point of interest, he's 21, whereas I'm 17, so the creepiness was amplified. Anyway, this is my second stalker I've ever had, so I'm starting to feel quite flattered (Though the last time the stalker was a girl, so it was more flattering). AccountDeleted
So you walked with this person to the church but never bothered to ask how he knew your name or from where he knew you? Why not? It seems that would have been an easy way to find out if he was a stalker or just a strange person. There are many strange people in the world who aren't stalkers. I didn't ask where he knew me from because he clearly displayed not ever having met me by having introduced himself and speaking to me as if he had never met me before. As for the name explanation, for some reason that never occurred to me.

He is hardly going to stalk you if you are a complete stranger to him, so he must think he knows you from somewhere.

He said at the end that he called me by my name because his cousin shares my name. But that doesn't explain how he knew I shared his cousin's name. PhuturePriest
I assume you don't know his cousin? Maybe a mutual acquaintance? No. I've only met one man with my name, and they certainly aren't related. I don't know anyone in this town, yet, so it can't be a mutual acquaintance. PhuturePriest
Is it a small town? Population of 4,200. But, as I said, I don't know anyone here except the Priest, but the Priest doesn't know my name yet, plus this guy was a Protestant.

Well, you managed to get his religion out of him, but not how he knew your name. I think your priorities are unusual. You can guess about this forever, or just ask him next time you see him (if he really is stalking you, a fact of which I am not convinced) :p
HisChildForever
Maybe he mistook you for someone else. How many times did he say your name in conversation? If you only heard it when he was across the street, maybe he said Niles, Mike, Milt, or something.

Guess it depends on where you're from (or what you consider a highway), but a person tries to cross a highway here and they'd be dead before they went two steps...I have a weird visual of you waltzing across either a 2-lane road or a 6-lane death trap. But that doesn't explain how he knew I shared his cousin's name. I bet he mistook you for his cousin and by the time he realized he didn't know you, you had walked over and conversation had begun. That's the best I can come up with, anyway.
