Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
Peace with you in Jesus name, Bretheren, sympathizers and others... I have heard it said before and i believed it for a while, that there is a cure for every disease and ailment contained within nature on this planet or is there perhaps other planets we need to get to that have other cures that aren't contained within this planet ? Whatcha all tink about dat? :) Onward christian souls. Jesus iz LORD.
PhuturePriest
I think that there is no such thing as curing everything. There's always going to be something else. Once you find the cure for the next big disease, another one will be taking its place.

arfink
I've heard doctors describe how eradicating one disease with antibiotics is much like eradicating certain larger animal species. You can often mess up an "ecosystem" which is part of why we see diseases develop and evolve. It's because bacteria and viruses compete with eachother much like their larger animal counterparts, and this is why we see "new" diseases, which are actually old ones that have been given a new opportunity by some change or another in their environment. Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
Though i do think it may be possible to eradicate all diseases and as to whether or not it upsets the eco system i don't know, but also in saying that the consequences for sin won't be eradicated they will just become things like mental illness and depression. I like the sound of that because some people die of serious disease before they have a chance to repent perhaps but than on the other hand perhaps the disease causes them to repent. Pretty mind boggling huh.
blazeingstar
I think the idea of "illness"---> "cure" is one that is strongly rooted in culture. 100 years ago, the aches and pains of old age were considered normal and no one would of been wanting to run a marathon at 80. Today we laud science and it's advantages when someone does. And then we have micro cultures like those surrounding people of short stature or those who are deaf who do not want to change what others see as deficient. In-fact the cochlear implant is a VERY controversial device. I don't think that science can cure everything, nor do I think that it should cure everything we see as deficient. Scientists have learned a lot about cell division through cancer and finding a cure for cancer has lead to developments that helped with other diseases. Cancer has been a great burden on humanity, but the knowledge gleaned 100 years from now may be even more important.
