Ibreviary/loth Crash Course!

I just downloaded the iBreviary app to my iPod without a clue as to how it works. Can anyone provide me with any help I formation on how to pray it? I don't know if I "have to" pray the things at certain times of the day, if so that would be difficult because of my fluctuating schedule. I'm not sure if there are "optional" parts of it or what, guidance is appreciated! :)

nothing is required.

apostolic religious communities often limit it to lauds and vespers, and sometimes compline. the more contemplative ones do more.

you don't have to do it at a particular time of day either. I have known priests who having been through an emergency-full day sat down and did their entire office as the sun was setting. Obviously not ideal.

It can be helpful to choose an hour or a range in which you will say it - this helps with sticking to it, I've found.

While there are no time requirements specifically, I have found it helpful to give myself from 6am-10am to say morning prayer, 11am-3pm to say noontime prayer, 5-8pm to say evening prayer, and anytime after that for night prayer. Just a suggestion, but you should just see what your schedule allows. Depending on the day, I say the hours at different times, and that's perfectly fine too.

He could, and I think many do. Some might also pray the entire thing all at once, perhaps at the start or end of the day.

If I am not mistaken, I read that there was a particulal well-known priest (cannot remember who) who would pray his day's Office obligation just before the end of the day, then pray the next day's right afterwards when it was officially the next day.
