CrossCuT
I've never had a flu shot in my life. I don't even know what the flu is. The flu is the monster the hides under your bed.

Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
keep your hands away from your nose and mouth, and don't shake hands in winter except at holy mass, and wash your hands after holy mass, perhaps keep sanitizers in the car or pocket for the times you can't avoid shaking hands. :) I'm terrible with touching my face. :( Edited October 22, 2013 by Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
CatherineM
My father lost most of his family to the Spanish Flu in 1918. We were always first in line every year. I'd never forgive myself if I got sick and passed the flu to someone who was immune compromised and killed them.

Basilisa Marie
I got the flu shot the last two years because I worked at Panera, and came into contact with a LOT of people. Plus my coworkers had really, really bad habits of coming into work when they were sick unless the boss made them stay home, but not before they spread their germs over all the commonly touched surfaces. That's how I got the worst sinus infection I've ever had one year. I usually get those, not the flu, every couple of years. Also because the shots were free, covered under my dad's insurance (yay for being 24!).

Comingback
I was reading a book about the 1918 flu epidemic and there are pretty reliable sources (at least to my small mind) that the homeopathic practitioners lost far fewer people than the allopathic ones. Interesting. My grandmother lost a child in that epidemic and almost died herself. If she had, I would not be here because my mom was born after that. I can't get the flu vaccine because I have an autoimmune disease.

I can't get the flu vaccine because I have an autoimmune disease. And its for people like you that really benefit from herd immunity. Granted in the specific case of the flu that vaccine needs to be perfected in order to be more effective, however in the vast majority of other diseases we have an obligation not just as human beings, but as Catholics to take care of the poor and weak. Vaccination is a very simple thing we can do to help not only ourselves but the people around us.
Isidore_of_Seville
lolwut? There are still people who are opposed to vaccination?
Gabriela
I object. lolwut? There are still people who are opposed to vaccination? And the "still" in this comment is condescending. People don't have to be backwards primitive ignorants to object to vaccinations.
