She is transcending her genre, and setting a new standard for Christian songwriters in the process.  Thank God for her.

I totally agree. She is amazing, and one time I was in Mass at the Nashville Cathedral and my friend was like, "Is that Audrey Assad?" and I was like, "Psh, no way." But it was her, and her husband. So after Mass we had an awkward conversation about her music and shook hands. I asked her husband (before I knew he was her husband...cuz Audrey was afar), "Is that Audrey Assad?" and he said, "That's my wife." And I said, "...........Yeah, but is she Audrey Assad?"

And he called her over to talk to us.

I've always found her lyrics to be incredibly chunky, with poor flow. She is quite a talented singer and musician, but her songs suffer under the weight of her lyrics.

I don't know what this means.

Her lyrics seem to be trying to fit too much into a single song. Like the opening verse of the song posted on this thread. Where's the flow? It felt very choppy and despite her lovely voice, very dissonant. It was uncomfortable to listen to.

I know what you mean. I actually really like a lot of her music but you definitely have a point about the flow. I think part of the reason I enjoy her music though is because the lyrics tend to be more poetic and deep than a lot of the Christian music on the radio.

She has a great voice, very talented.  I wouldn't go so far as to say setting a new standard or transcending her genre. Switchfoot transcended their genre, because they're played on Christian and secular radio stations, having completely transcended the boundary between the two and is celebrated by both.  Assad's lyrics (at least in this song) don't really seem any different than anything else going on in Christian music. But then, that's my own bias, because I got sick of "Jesus is great and powerful and all that" messages in my Christian music.  I want more variety, talking about the experience of living the Christian life and such (Five Iron Frenzy's "On Distant Shores," Brandon Heath's "Give Me Your Eyes", Jars of Clay "Dead Man (Carry Me)").  Unless you're talking about her level of talent being the new standard, which I could see. She's got super pipes, though. And it's good meditative music.
