"Republicans in the House of Representatives have scheduled impeachment proceedings against President Obama, claiming his inability to halt the federal government shutdown makes him unfit for office.

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann introduced a resolution to impeach Obama this morning and referred the matter to the House Judiciary Committee. Senior aides close to judiciary chairman Bob Goodlatte say hearings will begin Thursday.

"I think it's high time President Obama be held accountable for his crimes," explains Bachmann. "For two weeks now, vital government services have been disrupted, federal workers have gone without pay and national memorials have been closed, all because of the president's refusal to negotiate over Obamacare.

"This isn't just poor leadership. The Obama administration is corrupt to the core. The scandals surrounding the IRS, Benghazi, the Fast and the Furious (sic) and Solyndra have shown us this cabal will do anything to stay in power.

"But in shutting down the government President Obama has committed economic treason against the United States of America, and he must be removed before it's too late. The Constitution provides us the mechanism of impeachment. It's time to end this dictatorial regime and return the presidency back to the American people."

If you back off from the ultra-solemn, it is really funny to think that Phatmass got PWNed....    :lol3:

On the other hand, sad that it seemed legit enough that TJMH didn't realize it was satire.... :console:

Yeah...Daily Currant does stories in two types.  Totally unbelievable, or "fools people" are the two types.  Legit media outlets have been fooled by it before as well, so it's not near as bad as being fooled by the Onion in that sense.  (The other day, I thought I wasn't on CNN because of an unrealistic headline, "Assad claims he should have won Nobel Peace Prize", it seemed like it should be satire...I was wrong, he really said it.)

The House of Represenatives is a box of crackerjacks. This statement is applicable in an entirely bipartisan way.

The same can be said of the Senate and the executive branch of the government. America is becoming a joke, just another a banana republic.

Ah, sad day. My hopes were soaring!

This is the sort of delusion amongst contemporary conservatism that led to the shock when Obama crushed Romney in 2012.  The House not liking Obama's 'handling' of the shutdown is not an impeachable offense.  Particularly since the sole group responsible for our current mess is a large chunk of the House Republicans.  This is reflected by both

1-An honest assessment of the facts

2-The polling showing that Americans overwhelmingly blame House republicans for this mess (as they should).

Honestly, if you didn't immediately recognize this as satire then you should look at adding some diversity to your news sources.

no, I mean historically and everything. The House has always been the crackerjack branch of government. And in that role they have served their purpose. The only thing worse than having a crackerjack branch of government is having no crackerjack branch of government.

And historically the Senate the U.S. presidency have not been any better. We even have had senators beating each other up in the Senate chamber. Our government has been filled with idiots for centuries.

No, the Senate has a much better reputation. They have to represent an entire state; the broader constituency has a moderating influence. Overall.  The House of Representatives has been gerrymandered to within an inch of its life, with the result being that it is now not only possible but likely that a "district" will elect a crackerjack of one political stripe or the other.
