HisChildForever
I used to be for the death penalty in extreme circumstances, but now I'm for the death penalty never. I don't really want to debate that though. Has anyone else found themselves switch to the other side of the fence when it comes to a controversial topic? I've consistently been against abortion, euthanasia, and contraception so this is really the only "switch" for me. (Homosexual marriage -- I really can't muster the energy to care, frankly. Beyond "I'm a Catholic and this is what I think." Pretty indifferent.)
Not The Philosopher
I've changed my mind on so many things - six years ago my views were pretty far removed from Catholicism. Getting to where I am now involved quite a lot of moments that felt like a hit to the solar plexus. My undergrad years were basically, "NTP has a long succession of existential crises until he is finally a papist".
Seven77
I'm against the death penalty here on earth, as voiced by Pope JPII. I'm also against it on mars and planet x.

But you're otherwise OK with it on the remaining seven six planets of our solar system?

Not The Philosopher
You know folks on those planets? My family is from Venus. And people here complain about the heat.
BG45
Before converting I was pro-death penalty and pro-abortion. Not any longer.

AccountDeleted
I've changed twice on the death penalty. Before converting, I was a Buddhist, and was against the death penalty. After converting, I thought it was ok in some circumstances. Now I am against it in all circumstances. I have changed my opinions quite a few times during the course of my life. Now I know that opinions are just that - opinions - and because they can change, I don't fight to the death over them any more. :p
Lilllabettt
The only one I can think of is the atomic bomb. Many years ago I thought it was okey dokey. Not for any good reason; I just never thought about it. Now I put it in the same category as torture - never justified, even when the "greater good" demands it. Winchester
A life for a life is a limitation, not an order. I'm against the State executing people in our current system because the State views itself as the aggrieved party.
Nihil Obstat
I am not against the death penalty per se, but I do not think the modern state is competent to administer it.
CatherineM
I've changed ideas about several issues over the years. We are expected to grow in our faith and maturity. Educating myself about the death penalty after John Paul spoke about it made the difference.
Spem in alium
I'm against it. I've done a lot of research and currently write to someone on death row, which has really reinforced my position.
