AnneLine
Thanks, Red, that's Cooool.... So, I'll plan on initial selection of Virtues & Continents on Nov. 8 and I'll keep the selection available THROUGH January. Lil Red, I presume you will open your OWN thread about the Saints (because you do it so beautifully, and have done so more years than I have been on this phorum!!!!) and let us know how you want us to apply for a new patron saint! I'll also open a separate thread in a day or so that is JUST for selecting this year's Virtues and Continents. :) This will keep the selection for the three a little neater... but it is fun hearing how peole did with their saints and virtues and continents. Like I said in the topic name -- HARVEST TIME! Any one else? Edited October 17, 2013 by AnneLine

Anastasia13
I forgot about patience, possibly shot myself in the foot for lacking it in a time of testing, and instead of helping the poor like St. Vincent de Paul, I am just poor. I did get asked out by a guy from Africa. Edited October 18, 2013 by Light and Truth
Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
I received St. Francis of Assisi but I am ashamed to say I did not really pray to him especially. Another book about saint francis which is more a fun one but a good read is called " I Francis." I hope i get to do a saint, virtue and continent in 2014. Jesus iz LORD. Anastasia13
I received St. Francis of Assisi but I am ashamed to say I did not really pray to him especially. I went to Masses said by Franciscans a few times and one of them heard my confession, it was beautiful and I learned a lot from the counsels he gave me. As for my virtue which was faith, the link is obvious since I was baptized this year at the Easter Vigil. I forgot to pray for my continent (South America). I forgot about everything related to this. I mostly figured it would be an interesting experiment to see what was pulled for me. Edited October 18, 2013 by Light and Truth
AnneLine
Maybe I will use that as my "Advent Prep"! Sounds like a nice plan... although you will also have the option of some new people and virtues & continents in November and December. If it were me I'd enjoy what you have now -- this year's harvest! -- and then start anew with a new virtue/continent in November and a new Patron at the start of Advent! You still have some time -- enjoy this year's stuff!!!! I forgot about patience, possibly shot myself in the foot for lacking it in a time of testing, and instead of helping the poor like St. Vincent de Paul, I am just poor. Well.... hm... again, L&T, you still have time left! If you haven't read the novel Street Lawyer by John Gresham, you might find it a good read and VERY relevant both to St. Vincent De Paul and patience. And you can still pray for Africa.... maybe read a little about what is going on there, maybe even find some poor to help in some way over there! You never know..... If it helps any, I'd almost forgotten about Asia... but I am remembering them now.... Another book about saint francis which is more a fun one but a good read is called " I Francis." I hope i get to do a saint, virtue and continent in 2014. Jesus iz LORD. I have not read "I Francis" but I will keep it in mind, Tab! Thanks for the recommendation! You DEFINITELY can have both a virtue and continent... I'll be starting a thread next week to order those. You will need to watch for LilRed's thread about the saints to get a Saint for 2014... she does her selection before Advent, but usually starts a little before then. I will select the virtues and continents on Nov 8th.... ANYBODY else remember an interesting thing or experience regarding last year's saints, continents and virtues? I will always remember his awaking to the needs of others after a guy was shot near him and he was splattered on and wondered if the dead guy had aids and how his character grow compassionate while his wife/ex-wife's stayed materialistic. I met a lady a couple weeks ago that made me wish I had a law degree (except for all the reading that goes into it). Pray for her and her fight and family. pen1
Just wrote a thank you note to St. Raphael this morning for his help this past year. Lots of healing in unexpected ways and the archangel walked me through it all. Was kinda hoping for a meeting with my future husband... well, still a month left! :hehe2: Didn't see the virtue drawing last time so am looking forward to that as well. AnneLine
Thanks, Pen1, for checking in on this! Lil' Red is the one who selects patron saints... but I'll be setting up the Choose a Continent to pray for and Choose a Virtue lists. I think I will do them as two separate thread this year... and hopefully Lil'Red will start her Saints thread soon as well (although she chooses the Saints later, at the start of Advent.) Basilisa Marie
I have St. Martin de Porres. He's the best. But I think he's got a nasty plan to make me work in the customer service industry for another year. :P
Immanuel
I got St. Pio of Pietrelcina. I remember being very excited :woot: to get him for my saint since I didn't really know much about him except that I thought he was a really powerful intercessor. Blsed JPII (before he was pope) even wrote Padre Pio to ask him to intercede for someone that JPII knew who was sick (and she recovered). Well I found a lot of info about his life and his teachings on the web and I watched a movie about his life. But the saying that has really stuck with me the whole year is, "Pray, hope, and don't worry." I printed off a holy card with St. Pio's image and that saying and I carry it with me everywhere. I use it frequently (I suffer from anxiety) and it's like he is speaking it to me personally. I know I could learn a lot more from him especially about suffering since he did so much in his lifetime. I got the virtue of charity and I think it has helped me to keep focused and working on it but I have such a long way to go. Thanks Anneline
