MarysLittleFlower
Her feast is on Tuesday :) Has anyone seen the movie from Ignatius press? (the miniseries in Spanish). What were your thoughts? :)
Gabriela
Nope. I've only seen clips in that one really moving youtube video that had all the Theresa's in it. Oh heck, might as well post it again! Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AadnA8Jet2A&list=FLOJqVM8xJYQBtOnTl0Y7fpA&index=65 It looks really good, though. I'd like to see it. Wish it were on Netflix. :-(
AccountDeleted
I enjoyed it but I prefer it on video, then I can fast forward through the riding on donkeys bits. The slow pace gives you a great idea of how horrible all that travel was, but it does slow down the movie in my opinion.
Antigonos
The video clip you embedded seems to be two different films joined together. One of them I have seen, the other I have not. The first instance of joining comes about 1 minute into the clip, with Therese in her wedding dress. You can see that the actresses are different. And the subject line of this thread is Theresa of AVILA; the film to which I am referring was about Therese of Lisieux. Aya Sophia
Spanish mini-series is marvelous. Seems authentic (as far as a 21st C American watching a movie about life in 16thC Spain can determine authenticity :o) ). Imo, worth buying, if that´s what you´re considering. Totally Franciscan
The Teresa of Avila series is often on EWTN. One can tape it, which is what I did. No need to buy.
Golden Years
I LOVED the miniseries! In fact I'm renting the DVD on Netflix this week for another go around. Excellent!
Maire
I love this miniseries. :) IT's incredibly thorough, and uses loads of quotes from St. Teresa's actual writings. I just found an edition of it on ebay for $6 plus shipping. It was made in Mexico, so it's not by Ignatius Press, but there's some English on the case and English subtitles available. I found it uder the title "Teresa de Jesus." Plus, the whole movie is on Youtube without subtitles, if you can understand Spanish. "Teresa de Los Andes" is on there, too. ;) Edited October 14, 2013 by Maire
Chiquitunga
:-( This video was made by a dear friend of mine a couple years ago... We were having some discussion on videos and vocations, etc. and I showed her our carmelite15's video here (which does have a few clips from the Teresa de Jesús movie) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUgoLmHCxS4 She couldn't get over how different/interesting it was to use a modern song like this and Carmelites together! and then she thought to make her own version, and asked carmelite15 first :like: A few parts of it especially reflect her own story and personality. She's awesome and very creative! She made all of this on an old laptop she bought on eBay for $75. She didn't use any clips from Teresa de Jesús though, as she couldn't find good quality videos of it on youtube, so she used a few from a more recent film on St. Teresa of Avila, good clips, although that movie itself is not good, sadly impure, so please don't look it up and watch it. I just saw a few scenes on youtube and that was enough! But anyway, MaryVeronicaJMJ's video is pretty sweet! She also made this one on the priesthood a few months later... I love it!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4i7dXoU9iOg
Chiquitunga
Back to Teresa de Jesús though, here's one with pictures from it. I love this song Tú eres el agua viva  by Hermana Glenda.. goes perfectly with this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihJtHr2x77Q http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGNPbXYyVvo
MarysLittleFlower
I'm so glad the miniseries uses quotes from St Teresa! :D that just encourages me more to read her writings. I've read only a bit of them. She seems like such a great Saint! I like how the actress portrays her in the miniseries too, I mean I don't know what the real St Teresa was like but many times I liked the acting. I haven't finished watching it though. :) I borrowed the DVD, but I might buy it in the future.. I don't really watch stuff on youtube because of copyrights.. but if I really like something a lot, I try to buy it :) I have some Saint movies that I like to watch and re-watch, like "Padre Pio Miracle Man" which is probably my favourite ;) Edited October 16, 2013 by MarysLittleFlower
loveletslive
i can't take that video seriously with Beyonce playing in the background! the juxtaposition of St. Terese of Avila/EWTN and Beyonce is too funny :)
Ancilla Domini
I have this movie, but I haven't watched it yet. We only watch movies on Saturdays, here, and it's hard to persuade my brothers to watch a movie about a nun, on their only movie night. (Especially since it would take more than one week to finish it.) I've been wanting to watch it for eons!
