HisChildForever
I don't blame them at all but yikes this shutdown is getting crazier by the minute.
4588686
Hm. So the same Ted Cruz who pushed and encouraged a shut down is using some vets as props to protest the shutdown that Ted Cruz wanted. Brilliant.
KnightofChrist
Shutting and barricading the monuments and memorials did not happen during the last shutdown. It costs more to shut them off than to leave them open. The Vets just want to visit their memorials, a great many who may not be able to again. The Adminstration opened the barricades for pro-immigration activists, but it leaves them shut for Vets. Pretty petty and sick. I'm glad Cruz supported the Vets here I wish more Democrats also would do the same. I don't know if any did, but nothing save being contradictory was stopping the President from also coming down and helping the Vets in ripping down the barriers keeping them from their memorials. John Ryan
The masses are truly ignorant. I know conservatives have a sacred notion of soldiers and veterans — unless they speak out against the Sacred Nationalism like Oliver Stone — but so many of them follow Republicans like blind sheep; just as many African Americans blindly follow the Democratic Party. That has zip and zero to do with Vets being denied access to their memorials by the President.

They're public memorials. So, and I understand that this might get confusing, when the federal government shuts down, federal properties like the WWII memorials shut down. That's what a federal shut down is. You support the federal shut down. So have the integrity to stand by the consequences of your political decisions. KnightofChrist
Sources? I'll gather them up later tonight. I'm too busy having fun playing video games and having a cookout to worry about responsing right now.
John Ryan
That has zip and zero to do with Vets being denied access to their memorials by the President. I am not here to defend the actions of the President. You cannot logically infer that my criticism of conservatives is an implicit defense of the Democrats. I am not a Democrat. I am a Communist — I want the whole government to be crushed and all politics reabsorbed into the real community. I simply find it laughable that veterans are allowing themselves to be used as a political instrument by the Republicans, when it is the Republicans who are demanding compensation for the future functioning of the Government. If it weren't for the Republicans in the first place these parks would never have been closed. The right-wing placates veterans with empty, ritualistic words and they fall for the lies and actual end up believing that the Republicans give a beaver dam about them. You're responding to me to try to explain that you're too busy being cool and having fun to respond? You must be really social and outgoing. You're strained attempts to emphasize these points is not at all sad.

You are really special, they were not closed during the last shutdown, they shutdown things like fountains but they did not block off the memorials. This is an abuse of power. This is an abuse of power. I am no memorial expert, but I am assuming the memorials are blocked off because they do not want anything to happen to them while they are not being managed and protected. This is an abuse of power. You've said that. I asked for some sources but then you went to great pains to emphasize all the video games and cookouts that were preventing you from sourcing your claim. Speaking of which, how's the cookout going?
