Apotheoun
No one is left out. Even when I have not had health insurance (and this is true in the various states in which I have lived), I always had access to medical care. It is illegal not to treat someone in need. Now, did I go to the doctor for a cold? No. But didn't do that even when I have had health insurance. Obamacare is not about people's health, it is about power, and you are delusional if you think that it is not. Apotheoun
when did I ever say I support obaamcare or government healthcare? never said. I fact I specifically said I don't like obamacare. I'm glad you're not for it. I would pay the fine before I would buy a health plan mandated by the government.
Apotheoun
Besides, the fine is going to be cheaper than paying for the insurance, and there is no collection enforcement of the fine. I can't pay what I have no money to pay.

Obamacare is not about people's health, it is about power, and you are delusional if you think that it is not. so in your mind its either an emergency or a cold? there is no in between. dude I work in healthcare. people are left out everyday. I honestly don't know if its just talking points with your are you are just completely uninformed. its real simple. people who have some type of disease and need constant medication are left out. if you can not afford your medication(medication is not cheap) you are left out. you are not just given medication. if you go to the er you are given medication to treat your symptoms right there and then. then you are given a prescription to fill for your medication. without money or insurance(you were denied for a pre-existing condition) you are left out. does medication not count as healthcare? does medication for bipolar or schizophrenia not count as healthcare? is it only emergency services? should I even mention people who go to rehab facilities for injuries or mental health institutes who are booted out before they are ready to go because they can't afford it or have no insurance to pay for it? I have brought pts out of rehab facilities or hospitals who were not ready to leave but they were being booted out because they had no money or insurance would no longer pay for their stay there. does that not count as healthcare? people are denied healthcare all the time. just because they can not be denied at an er does not mean they can be denied other places. healthcare is not just emergency care but all care related to your medical, physical and mental health and more. Norseman82
If not what other idea do you have to cover all these uninsured. It seems to be a pretty big deal for you, so what would be your idea to cover everyone. I don't support obamacare but I am curious if this is just rhetoric or you really support some plan so every single person is insured. I know you addressed this question to Apotheoun, but my alternative, if we want government involved, is to expand the CHIP program for those who either cannot afford the insurance or cannot get insurance due to pre-existing conditions or because they have reached a previous lifetime limit. Additionally, I have read that before the current administration, federal employees had many plans to choose from, including a "Catholic" plan that did not include abortion or contraceptive coverage. So, expanding consumer choice should also be a part of this - a consumer should have the choice of a bare-bones hospital-surgical, major medical, and/or catastrophic insurance policy, with a choice of deductibles (like one pays for auto insurance), without non-essential mandated coverage (like abortion, contraception, viagra, and IVF coverage), combined with the option of a medical savings account, and if a person wants extra coverage they can pay for additional riders. It may not guarantee 100% coverage right away, but I believe it is a step in the right direction, and if someone ran the numbers it might be less expensive to all than the Obamacare fiasco. KnightofChrist
Mean while the President has yet again rejected compromise with the House. Even though the House basically surrendered. So the shutdown continues because the President is arrogant and unwilling to work with a elected body of Government.

You just swallow the kool-aid for free. The Obama administration should have rejected any short term extension of the debt ceiling. The Republican Party keeps trying to threaten the stability of the global economy to get policies passed that cannot win on a national level. Floopy them.
