Post Count Goal/randomness Thread

While looking at the pictures of the new SMMC novices it seems so weird to see them in a habit. I guess it is because I first met them before they entered whereas with all the other Sisters I met them when they had already been invested in the habit. I'm just thrilled for them both, especially Sr Christiana. Hers has been a long journey!

Well!   Very glad to have given you something to chew on on your blog -- and an excellent one it is!

I really liked your take on Courage and Meekness.  AND... it reminded me of something I haven't thought of much over the last few years.  In the early 1980's, and excellent movie, Chariots of Fire, was made about 2 runners in the 1924 Olympics, Harold Abrams and Eric Liddell.  I'm not going to give away the story (because the movie is DEFINITELY worth hunting, and especially in the 25th anniversary edition with the additional info by the director and some of the actors... wow, JUST wow, will you look at the Holy Spirit at work!) ;)

BUT I got fascinated by Eric Liddle.  He ended up as a missionary in China and died their while in an Internment Camp during WWII (of a brain tumor, not of maltreatment, incidently....).   I hunted for EVERYTHING I could find on him (which as NOT much during the 1980's --  more is available on line now.   He wrote a book he wrote on the Beatitudes which I think really sums this up well.  I'm paraphraising him, but basically what he wrote was:

Meekness is NOT Weakness.

Weakness is feeling weak and useless and powerless

Meekness is feeling small and humble and strong

And I think Courage is what comes out of that meekness -- it is what a soul filled with the strength & humility of God can do...

Preview/Film clip... cut & pasted, but gives you a good idea...but definitely you need the whole picture...

because there is a tremendous sub-plot....

I remember reading his biography years ago.... The missionaries who impressed me most were:
Mary Slessor: because she went to Africa and gave everything for them, although the fact that she held some duties that ought to have belonged to men
George Müller: because he depended on God for everything, even his dinner, and I don't think he accepted payment for his work running an orphanage but depended entirely on donations

It was around the time I was reading these biographies that I thought I heard God calling me to be a missionary. And... Saint Therese and Saint Clare had missionary hearts, so I don't see why I should have been wrong as a child. (But anyway.... This is rather a tangent and this is TT's thread, not mine.)

I'm exhausted but must push through the rest of this week. AND I just found out that even though I don't have classes next week I will still have to work Monday-Wednesday! I was really looking forward to the week off. On the bright side there are only a couple more weeks in the semester, for better or worse.

The Monday after I graduate I plan on doing absolutely NOTHING! Sleeping in as long as I want and just doing nothing. After that all the packing and cookie baking madness can begin.

Sweeeet.  (Re .. you're close to graduating).

I'm exhausted too.  My schedule has been completely messed up this week ... can't wait until the weekend to try to fix it. :)

So I just wrote out all my assignments I have due before I graduate. There are 15 things on that list. I just finished three of them so that drops it to 12. But those twelve are pretty big. Lots of papers and finals. Pray for me!

I'm not graduating... but welcome to the club. I was gone for a few days... then Thanksgiving is this week, I have a big concert next Tuesday, and finals are the next week. In the middle of that there are a few papers and presentations. Oh boy....

ETA: But if you have twelve big-ish assignments, you might have it worse....
