Rosita
Unbelievable. http://www.delish.com/food/recalls-reviews/chicago-restaurant-offers-communion-burger Edited October 4, 2013 by Rosita
BG45
The restaurant claims it never meant for the burger to offend anyone. I half believe that. I think they wanted to offend just enough people to get some free media attention with their unsettling act...it may be unconsecrated, but still... Anastasia13
Maybe it's a Protestant wafer.
Selah
Maybe it's a Protestant wafer. Nah, otherwise it would be an oyster cracker.
r2Dtoo
If I find a cross on my sandwich bread, is it immoral for me to eat it? I mean, I'd be stupid to not sell it on ebay, but immoral, really? I fail to see why anybody would be worked over this.
Anastasia13
Nah, otherwise it would be an oyster cracker. Not always, but I googled Lutheran Communion wafer, and the design was simpler.
Winchester
You believe that people nailed a guy to a tree because he talked a lot about peace, and this you find unbelievable?
arfink
Lol, this doesn't seem offensive to me at all. They're just making it "heavy metal" themed, and I've always viewed metal fans as more hilarious than sacrilegious anyway.
KnightofChrist
This is very sad. Not actual Hosts I trust but still a symbolic mockery.
Winchester
"It's like taking a flag and burning a flag". Oh God.
AccountDeleted
It's in really bad taste (which doesn't say much for the taste of their products) but it isn't sacrilegious. We made communion wafers in the convent and the imperfect ones all got put into large plastic bags and were given to farmers to feed to their pigs. Unconsecrated wafers are just bread. That being said, the insensitivity of the act would influence me not to eat at that place.
brandelynmarie
The burger is named after the Swedish heavy metal band Ghost (known as Ghost B.C. in the US). The lead singer dresses up as a cardinal with a skeleton mask & the band members wear hooded robes. Yeah, the burger is meant to be sacrilegious. :meh: Once again, not seeing a Jewish pork sandwich or an offensive Islamic burger(not that I'd want to!)...it's easier to offend the Christians. CatherineM
If it's unconsecrated, what's the problem.

The heavy metal band Ghost is probably just using shock tactics to get attention and stand out from the crowd. The burger place just wants to increase sales. I doubt that anyone is consciously try to offend Christians but they do know that they will get a reaction. The host is unconsecrated and whether or not we turn this into a big deal is up to us. We can choose to ignore the attention seeking behavior or give them what they want.
brandelynmarie
I respectfully disagree as I do believe that it is a conscious action meant to offend. But I do agree that it is a shock tactic to increase sales. :)
