Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
YOU NEED JESUS. sorry i prob should have put this in the debate table. although it was just a shock jock title and a statement , but perhaps there iz a more serious undertone that needs to be discussed. Petra28
I think... Jesus' "I need you" is like one a mother would whisper to her sleeping baby. Our "I need you" is like the baby's cry when wakes up from a dream. Our need would turn into fear and despair if God didn't need us to love! Seven77
I don't have a degree in theology but this is what I think… Strictly speaking, (metaphysically?) God doesn't need us… yet it can be said that God chooses to need us in the sense that he thirsts for our love.

AugustineA
aww snap. But seriously. God is dependent on no one. His independence is unique and self-sustained. He does not need us. We however need God very dearly. We need Jesus very dearly. He may not need us, but he loved us enough to breathe us into creation and forgive us trodding about in our muddy sinniness. I think... blazeingstar
YOU NEED JESUS. sorry i prob should have put this in the debate table. although it was just a shock jock title and a statement , but perhaps there iz a more serious undertone that needs to be discussed. I disagree. Jesus as part of God DOES "need" us. He needs our love and devotions to reflect His own. Kinda in the theme of "Oh necessary fault of Adam that won for us so great a savior." Jesus does need us to be, do and believe many things. Now, in the way that we need Jesus He never fails and we do. But I find that there is more harm to be done in the "Jesus doesn't need you" statement, including leading people to feel unwanted and unloved. A redeemer needs His redeemed, Jesus would of gone to the Cross if just one human existed. So no, Tab, you are wrong. Jesus needs us, just like a husband and wife need each other. God doesn't need us...because He is God and completely sufficient in Himself. He chooses, in Jesus, to need us. So...you are both right.

Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
I disagree. Jesus as part of God DOES "need" us. He needs our love and devotions to reflect His own. I disagree, we are saved by Grace/love/God, not by our own strength. Although WE need to say yes/faith to that grace offered. Faith, hope and love. For me faith is spiritualiuty/prayer/meditation/reading holy scripture and hope/charity is being a doer of the word and not just a hearer and Love is God/Grace. Saint paul says " We can light ourselves on fire and give to the poor but without love whats it for? " " and these three will remain, Faith,Hope and Love but the greatest of these is Love." Although all three Faith, Hope and Grace are part of the salvic mission it all starts with grace, and we need to share our yes/faith with others whom are outside of Grace. It truly is a relationship but it all begins with God. That's what i was getting at. But anyhow also even if no one gets to heaven God will still be Love and as Great as he is was or ever will be. These are just quick thoughts and probably i haven't explained myself exactly even though i have explained my thoughts on the matter LOL. Onward christian souls. JESUS iz LORD. P.s. You can't be saved by Faith alone, Faith/spirituality and hope/charity/works are an outward expression of an initial grace which comes from God/Love. That's what i believe anyhow, proove me wrong, remembering i never disagreed with what st teresa of avila has said here, we are still his body but only with Grace. Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
So i got it in very simple terms as to what i believe on this matter. We pray for ourselves and others because we need it not because Jesus needs it. We spread the good news and evangelize ourself and others because we need it not because Jesus needs it.
