Nihil Obstat
Oh please dont tell me youre a paranoid cop hater? Do you think they stop people cause its fun? Do you know anyone who has been killed because of a drunk driver? My mom is a cop. That means I get a free pass on criticizing the institution as a whole without people questioning my motivation. :|

Anastasia13
Granted I did not watch the videos here, but I was in a DUI checkpoint once. I probably showed the cop my license. I answered that no, I have not been drinking. He let me continue driving home. I would have no problem doing the same again.
Anastasia13
I contracted viral encephalitis back in 2007, and suffered nerve damage to the left side of my body. I now have tremors in my left arm and leg and so there is no way I could pass a test that requires that I balance on one foot. I wonder how they would handle that, maybe a medical tag? I dont appreciate using your mother as an excuse to question the integrity of all police. Yes there are some stupid cops out there, but there are way more that indeed take their position very seriously and want to uphold laws that protect the citizens. Do not insult people who put their lives on the line to enforce safety as a high priority.

Apotheoun
I cannot pass any sobriety tests based on physical movement, but at the same time because of the medications I have to take in order to lessen my tremors and prevent the migraines (also caused by the viral encephalitis that nearly killed me 6 years ago) I cannot drink alcohol. Im glad :) And in response to your "Is that what they do" question, yes. They uphold laws that protect citizens. Is that ok with you? Or would you rather they just sit around checking no one and then someone dies at the end of the night? Is a 2 minute stop too inconvenient for people? Honestly. Anastasia13
Is that what they do? Yes, sometimes. They investigate crimes, arrest criminals or suspected criminals, put people in protective custody, give tickets to those who park illegally or speed, and yes, sometimes they even act like jerks-they are human. Apotheoun
It is never a two minute stop for me, which is why I will go out of my way to avoid check points.
CatherineM
I got stopped by the police once, taken out and frisked, etc. I complied with every request. Turns out that a truck like mine had been involved in a hit and run that killed a child. They thanked me for my cooperation and sent me on my way. It's a form of being a good citizen and having good manners. If I'm ever asked to take a breathalyzer, I will request a blood test instead. That can be double checked later.
