How Does The Church Spend Our Dollar?

I'm curious to know if any of you are aware of a report that breaks down how the Church spends the money from the collections plate. I'm particularly interested how much of the money is used for the local parish vs how much is used outside (e.g. other churches, organizations, etc)

If your parish has a school, a large portion goes to subsidize the school. Part of the tithe supports the diocesan assessment (much like a "tax") to support the operation of the diocese. Another portion usually subsidizes a religious education program, and the rest supports the day to day operation of the parish.

spend "our" dollar?  I thought you were not catholic.  this is confusing.  are you catholic or not?

Are you seriously criticizing over grammar?  How the church spends it's money is of interest for those who are interested in Catholicism, or have fallen from it.

That is not grammar.

Also, he does raise a valid point -- if one is not Roman Catholic (by virtue of being lapsed, never having been Catholic, or some other scenario), one presumably does not tithe to the Roman Church. If that is the case, and he indeed does not contribute, what right does he have to call the donated funds "ours"?

That is not grammar.

Definition:

pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun. Pronouns can be in one of three cases: Subject, Object, or Possessive.

Grammar.

using "ours" rather than "their"  pronoun mistake.

The difference is that he wasn't calling into question its grammatical role -- he was calling into question its semantic role.

Here's the difference:

If the OP had said "Where do the funds that our donate go?", then he would have been correcting a grammatical issue. He was calling into question whether it should be "Where do our funds go?" or "Where do your funds go?"

Actually, misread.  Havok is the one causing trouble.  the OP never used the word "our" at all in his post.

Whilst it's used in the title of the thread, it seems to be  human kind all....and seriously, why does that make the OP's question any less legit?  Rude, if I say so myself.

I think he is "spiritual, but not religious."

You realize that that doesn't make sense, right? At least no more than a foreigner complaining about the ways in which "the United States government misuses my tax dollars". If you don't contribute to it, how can you rationalize that it is somehow yours?

This is the best answer. Although the Latin parish near my house went into debt to remodel its "worship space" and really wasted a lot of money. It is ugly as sin now.

I didn't know Phatmass was privvy to his financials.  Thanks, I'm going to go make sure you're not looking into my bank account.

You're making the assumption that "spiritual but not religious" means never giving any money to the Church.

Do you give money to the Episcopal Church?
