Anastasia13
Someone here posted about someone saying that a black sheep isn't a black sheep if he doesn't want to be one. That got me thinking. Black sheep were considered evil because of the black wool, but really, sometimes it wasn't that they were simply black sheep like that. Sometimes black sheep are just goth sheep.

hotpink
Someone here posted about someone saying that a black sheep isn't a black sheep if he doesn't want to be one. That got me thinking. Black sheep were considered evil because of the black wool, but really, sometimes it wasn't that they were simply black sheep like that. Sometimes black sheep are just goth sheep. Not really. Black sheep were not desirable because black sheep grew bigger (without a significant impact on wool production) were less fertile (if at all) and because white allowed blood, dirt and bugs (especially ticks and fleas) to be seen. Back hundreds of years ago, no one understood germs and not seeing meant it didn't exist. They also couldn't be dyed, and in the pre-industrial age it made them very useless, especially as color in the drab countryside was considered fashionable. There is biblical meaning and misunderstanding but the actual prevalence of that is really not understood as in some places black sheep were considered good luck.
