Mass Thread

Josh, I don't want to hijack your Mass thread with the ALF video -- we can always open him a thread on LameBoard if there is interest!   It surprised me to realize that series is 26 years old!

Glad you got to Mass, and glad we share a love for ALF as well.

It seems to me that there is a little ALF in all of us... and a whole lot of the rest of the family as well.

Kind of reminds me of the Phatmass phamily, too...

And Josh -- you and ALF stay away from that beer!

All Saints Day (Nov 1, 2013) is a Holy Day of Obligation.  All Souls Day (Nov 2) is not a Holy Day of Obligation.

Now an aside ... if I read the USCCB website correctly, Nov 1 2014 is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation in the United States because it falls on Saturday.

" whenever January 1, the solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, or August 15, the solemnity of the Assumption, or November 1, the solemnity of All Saints, falls on a Saturday or on a Monday, the precept to attend Mass is abrogated."

No, she was talking about 2014. Since All Saints falls on a Friday this year it is a Holy Day of Obligation (Or, as I read on the website of a Newman Center, Holy Day of Opportunity. I liked that twist to the term.), so you are required to go to Mass on Friday or maybe Thursday evening if vigil Masses are offered.

Just got out of confession....Mass starts in 20 minutes for All Saints Day....Will receive Christ Body unless I somehow commit a mortal sin between now and then....Think I'm safe.....

Good job! I went to confession myself this morning. It's always great to go. I have to go again tomorrow because of a devotion I'm doing, and I'm excited about it. I think I'm the only person I've ever known who loves confessing his sins and going to confession. People tell me "No, I love the feeling of confession afterwards, which is what I think you're talking about, right?" No. I mean I literally enjoy every aspect of confession, including confessing my sins and discussing them. I'm quite the open person. Or I'm just odd. Either way, I prefer it over being afraid of confession. :P
