PhuturePriest
Your mom went to college. She also dropped out because she didn't like that she had to do math.
EmilyAnn
I wonder if the author objects to women going to high school too. Lots of learning about things that don't directly relate to homemaking there too.

Basilisa Marie
Haha, Oh FP. :) This is the third time I've encountered this video in a week, and I still can't make it all the way through it. It fills me with too much rage, in so many different ways. Most of my thoughts take on various forms of "HOW DARE YOU...!" What I don't understand is that you can be a totally super duper conservative traditionalist Catholic with all kinds of ideas about traditional gender roles and what have you, without denying women the basic human right of access to education. There are a number of Catholic colleges specifically tailored to such a demographic. So send your daughters to one of those colleges so that she can find a nice boy majoring in Engineering or Pre-Med or whatever and let her get the best fracking classical liberal arts education your money (or someone else's) can buy so she can homeschool your grandchildren in all sorts of good subjects (and the rest of the neighborhood kids because she's so fracking good at it). See? Giving your daughters the opportunity and choice to go to college actually helps them do a much better job at fulfilling a woman's role in the stereotypical traditional/conservative/whatever Catholic narrative. HOW HARD IS THAT TO UNDERSTAND? Seriously. I can't handle how offensive this video is to me. I seriously worry for his daughters. He's not even giving them the opportunity to choose to go to college. Is he going to pick their husbands for them too? And I'm not even going to get into how his general attitude gives women a subhuman status. It's too reminiscent of The Handmaid's Tale for me. Basilisa Marie
I find it funny that they stay anonymous ... there's no way to report the site to the appropriate Bishop! Nah, he's not anonymous. The guy's name is Raylan Alleman, he has his own facebook page and youtube page. He lives in Louisiana. I don't think he "technically" violates Church teaching on anything. But I haven't looked too hard into it.

Now I feel bad. :P I honestly haven't even watched/read anything in the link. All I know is what other people have discussed, because I know if I click the link I'm going to get mad and I'm going to stay up until three in the morning pacing in my room ranting about why he's wrong and the incredible damage he's doing. :P
Basilisa Marie
LOL. It's okay, some of my grad school friends posted it originally with the comment, "Hmm, I wonder what he'd think of us with our advanced degrees?" As long as people like him stay in a tiny fringe minority, all will be well.

Gabriela
You should go to finishing school.
PhuturePriest
You should go to finishing school seminary. Yeah, I totally agree. Especially since the Wichita diocese is great and they pay in full for every single year, and there's no debt you have to pay back even if you discern out. I always wondered how on earth they had fifty seminarians until I learned about that. Free seminary = nothing to lose.
