At some communities, years ago, the religious were inhumated barefoot, not only a question of poverty and humility, but because footwear was expensive, and the sandals or shoes were kept for future friars or monks, sisters or nuns.   :nun1:

I like this. It does seem like it would create a special "bond" between the new friar and the rest of the Order. :)
