there is certainly a good argument against homosexuality as "genetic" because in reality, I believe, it's hormonal and chemical complexly combined with development and culture, but their arguments in favor of very generic ideas of

Do you have any specific sources that discuss the argument against a genetic origin? Id be very curious. There ia a lot of quackery (love that word) stuff out there but if you found a nice article Id love to read it! :)

hmm... I'll have to look around if I get a chance.  basically I think you'll often find some of the literature, like NARTH's stuff, citing some good reasons.  twin studies, for example--those in favor of genetic gay determinism tend to cite the higher prevalence of two twins being gay, but that higher prevalence is something like if 1 twin is gay, the other is something like 50% more likely to be gay, so it's higher than the general population but all that proves is that it's not some "choice" as the standard strawman fundie would say... but if there were a 'gay gene' on the genetic level, you'd expect 100%, whereas the higher prevalence is much better explained by hormones in the womb.  but then NARTH centering in on "it's not genetic" is just as much of a strawman IMO as the other side centering in on "it's not a choice".

but then, finding literature that's not clearly inundated with the politics surrounding the issue might be difficult.
