dUSt
What's the difference between Sherbert and Sorbet? I always thought those are the same.. Sorbets and sherbets are similar, but there are some important differences. For example, sorbets are friendly to lactose-intolerant individuals since they don't contain any dairy products. Sherbet on the other hand can contain dairy in it. Despite that difference, the two icy treats are very similar in their base ingredients. Sorbets are made with puréed fruits, sugar, and water and sherbets are made with those three same ingredients. But while sherbets are made with the same ingredients, they also can contain milk, gelatin, or egg whites. In fact, most brands of sherbet sold in supermarkets contain from 1 percent to 2 percent milk fat or cream. In contrast, sorbets never contain any type of dairy product. Sorbets also have a somewhat softer consistency.
AnneLine
I'd also say that... sorbets seem to have a more intense, zingy flavor. Not sure how to describe it better. More like eating the essence of a fruit rather than a substance made from fruit... it's all good. And out here, at least, some people make wine sorbets. Not sure if anyone has made a beer one, dUSt....

brandelynmarie
I voted frozen custard, but I love gelato & icecream as well. Jeni's & Graeter's are awesome. I also have a frozen coke addiction, but that's another story...
AnneLine
ACTUALLY, the best frozen treat is the one in front of me... or maybe the one INSIDE of me!!! ;) I'm getting VERY partial to frozen diet 7 up as well.... take one of the 16 oz plastic bottles, drink an ounce or two (to make room) and leave the cap very lightly on.... and leave in freezer for 3 or 4 hours. You want it a little hard but still to have some liquid in it.... oh my... I'm with Brandelynmarie on this one. They must serve those in Heaven...
