MarysLittleFlower
I wouldn't discount Saint Therese. Sin is serious, whether it is mortal or venial, and we shouldn't belittle the struggles of people just because they don't beaver dam you to he'll as a default. However, I recommend Saint Ignatius of Loyola. A secular worldly lover if there ever was one. It was so bad that it took a cannonball to the leg to snap him out of it. After his conversion, he was still prone to be slightly violent for a while. So violent that he was seconds away from killing a man for not paying proper respect to Mary. Don't talk about about the man's mother, I guess... I agree that sin is serious, and I know St Therese really struggled with scruples, and trying to overcome her faults etc - I am not minimizing her struggles at all... :) I guess what I'm saying is that she did struggle but she never 'fell away' from the faith, she was always a Christian and tried to not sin. Which is very good and a great grace. God preserves some people from really mortal sins or apostasy, and St Therese mentioned this as well. I just wanted to make it clear that I'm not making this thread to categorize Saints or anything like that... I'm just looking for Saints I can relate to specifically as a convert who wasn't always with God. I just don't know enough about them. But I love the other Saints as well, the ones who were preserved from mortal sin. Like I said, St Therese is my favourite Saint and I also love St Gemma Galgani and St Philomena and St Catherine of Siena. They're all examples of Saints who loved God from childhood. They struggled much to overcome any faults, but what I mean is that they weren't sinners in mortal sin who then converted as adults. All the Saints are amazing examples and I love reading about them all! I didn't know that about St Ignatius of Loyola! need to look him up :) A few more.... Bl. Charles de Foucauld http://saints.sqpn.com/blessed-charles-de-foucauld/ http://www.ignatiusinsight.com/features2005/vs_cdefoucauld_nov05.asp Louise de la Valliere http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louise_de_La_Valli%C3%A8re And you should know about Bl. Jean Joseph Lataste and the Foundation of the Dominican Sisters of Bethany: http://nunsopsummit.org/archives/2649 http://www.bethanien-op.org/Seligsprechung/Sonstiges/eLumenateSpring2012.pdf http://bethanyhouseministry.com/fr_jean_joseph_lataste_op "God does not look at what we have been; God sees only what we are." (Words of Fr. Jean Joseph Lataste OP - from a retreat given to the women at Cadillac Prison, France 1864) thanks! :) And technically speaking, we are all *Puts on glasses* Originally sinners. rotfl I about died laughing a few minutes ago at that. It came to me and I knew it had to be shared. Lol!!! clever ;) Edited August 21, 2013 by MarysLittleFlower

MarysLittleFlower
I disagree, Saints are much more fun... St Teresa might agree: “God save us from gloomy saints!†― Teresa of Ãvila. :) Edited August 21, 2013 by MarysLittleFlower
