Nihil Obstat

Bartolo Longo. Currently a beatus. Was a lay Dominican, a tertiary. Before that he was a Satanic priest. He considered his only chance at salvation to be propagating the holy rosary, and as a Dominican he was called Rosario.

Not all of them. Saint Dominic De Guzman was always holy, and Saint Bonaventure sinned so little there was speculation if he was born without Original Sin. Tradition says Saint John the Baptist never sinned, though he was born with Original Sin.

However, I recommend Saint Therese of Lisieux. She was never a "big" sinner, but she was quite imperfect, ranging from having frequent temper tantrums as a child to being incredibly sensitive to the point of being overbearing to others around her. In her own words, "I was far from a perfect child."

All of them.

I meant those who maybe lived in more serious sins... there are Saints who seemed to only ever commit little flaws or venial sins. I'm asking about those who are known to have repented of having lived in more serious sin, or converted.

The Magdalene wasn't a prostitute.

I'm actually trying to learn more about St Mary Magdalene... I didn't read about whether or not she was a prostitute though. (I didn't mention this either in my post :)). hmm maybe I should make a thread about her.

oh I forgot him! his conversion is amazing :)

St Francis...

from reading his life, it seems he was more worldly before... but I am not certain how much.

Saint Paul?

But basically this ^

yes St Paul! wow I can't believe I forgot him...

Do you have any information about St John the Baptist, because I heard that his original sin was taken away while he was in his mother's womb? during the Visitation... http://catholicism.about.com/od/beliefsteachings/p/Who-Was-Born-Without-Original-Sin.htm  is this the Catholic position?

St Therese is one of my top favourite Saints (I usually include her as my favourite Saint, because of how she helped me) - and she's a great example of a spiritual 'littleness'. However, when I look at her descriptions of imperfections, - they are very tiny compared to my sins. I'm kind of looking for Saints here who lived in mortal sin or were really anti-Christian before, or struggled with impurity...

Not all of them:

Mary Mother of God...  not a sinner.

(right?)

RIGHT :)

Tradition also holds that St. Joseph did not sin.

I heard this too!

I wouldn't discount Saint Therese. Sin is serious, whether it is mortal or venial, and we shouldn't belittle the struggles of people just because they don't damn you to he'll as a default. However, I recommend Saint Ignatius of Loyola. A secular worldly lover if there ever was one. It was so bad that it took a cannonball to the leg to snap him out of it. After his conversion, he was still prone to be slightly violent for a while. So violent that he was seconds away from killing a man for not paying proper respect to Mary. Don't talk about about the man's mother, I guess...
