Nihil Obstat
I would like to propose a low-key formal debate on the origin and nature of private property. Participants, if in agreement would be: Nihil Obstat and Winchester in favour of a broadly anarcho-capitalist theory of private property, and Hasan and a colleague of his choosing against the anarcho-capitalist theory and/or in favour of a distinctly counter opinion. Moderators would maintain a debate thread in which only moderation and the four debaters would be permitted to post. Other contributions would be moved to a debate commentary thread. Approved contributors would be expected to post at least once per day as circumstances allow, in order to keep the discussion alive. Debate format would be quite loose, since I do not think it is worthwhile to get hung up on proper rules. Debate would be impersonal and civil. We may agree to abide by a maximum word count per post, or we may not. That is about all I have. If anyone is interested in making this a reality, please post here. I just thought it might be fun, and perhaps would benefit discussion on the forum. :proud:

Winchester
One side doesn't believe in natural law, the other believes in natural law. This is a sticking point insurmountable, I think.

Apotheoun
What are the stakes in this debate? Does the winner get all the loser's private property?
Nihil Obstat
What are the stakes in this debate? Does the winner get all the loser's private property? Yes, because if Hasan wins it turns out that there is no such thing, so we will not have to give anything up.
