PhuturePriest
Muslims creating a ring around a Coptic Orthodox Church during Mass to protect them: http://www.patheos.com/blogs/danpeterson/2013/08/muslims-protecting-christians-in-egypt-during-mass.html Usually this stuff doesn't affect me emotionally, but I saw it this morning and was so touched I almost cried. I wished I could walk up to every one of them to give them a hug and tell them thank you. About an hour ago, I saw a derogatory meme and people being incredibly hateful towards Muslims. I normally would scroll over it, but I had just looked at the image again, and couldn't help but want to punch them in the mouth. My emotions are complicated like that. I settled for posting this link and then beating someone in an argument about Islam (To be fair, she had the weakest argument I'd ever seen). Didacus
This is the first time I've seen concrete action from muslim communities actually doing an effort towards peace in protection of Christians! Pretty amazing pic, and thanks for posting.

Gabriela
I'm pretty sure it happened during the Egyptian Revolution. I seem to recall a very similar story. Christians made circles around mosques and Muslims made circles around churches. Edited August 19, 2013 by curiousing

GeorgiiMichael
American News sources often conveniently leave out the fact that the Muslim Brotherhood is a dwindling minority within Egypt. Especially since their ineffectiveness after taking control post-Revolution. That's why Egypt is in the news again. The military has removed the Muslim Brotherhood president, after protests by civilians, and now the MB is lashing back. The Egyptian populous is becoming more and more educated, and they're tolerating less and less of the extremist crap that has been so prevalent in their country, the Arab world, and (to a lesser extent) the greater Muslim world. Apotheoun
St. Mark's Coptic Orthodox Church has put up on their Youtube Channel the video of that same Church (i.e., St. George's in Sohag) being attacked and burned by the Muslim Brotherhood on 14 August 2013. Yeah, weird. It's like some Muslims do good things sometimes and some Muslims do bad things sometimes. Like they're a bunch of complex individuals, or something. Apotheoun
The Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamist groups are responsible for most of the violence. That is why the Coptic Pope and Church supported the removal of Morsi back in July and have backed the present government crackdown. Do they say "Pope" the same way we do, or is that just a generous title they give to the head Bishop?

PhuturePriest
Yes, that is what they call the head of their Church. But do they see him as we see the Pope, or is it just a title? If it's not simply a title, isn't that a really big issue?
