Strange Experience With Aaa Insurance

I love the AAA motor club, but the last 2 years I've had a strange experience with AAA that I don't really know how to deal with.  First I was mysteriously dropped from the autopay and I started getting late bills in the mail -- which I would pay, then I would send in the form along with a cancelled check to set me back up on the autopay.  After 3 tries I was still not back on the autopay.  The fourth try I carried it in to the AAA office and handed it to them -- and I was still not put on the autopay.  Finally I made an angry call on the phone and the lady that I talked to walked me through setting it up on the internet -- and I was finally put back on the autopay program.

Then this year I got form for the mileage on my cars, and I filed it out and sent it in.  Then a month or so later I got a second one.  I ignored it since I had already mailed one in.  But then a month after that I got a third form.  And this one I mailed in.  Then last week I got a fourth!  And this time I submitted it on the internet, and then the next day I went into the AAA office to file a complaint.  The guy I talked to seemed honestly puzzled.  I told him that apparently my only solution to the problem of AAA not processing anything that I mail in -- is to do everything by internet that I can.

But what should I do?  Should I file a written complaint with AAA?  It would seem like somebody at AAA is playing a game with me, but I was told that these different forms are handled by different people.  What do you make of this?  How do you deal with a situation like this?  I don't know if I should get angry and switch to a different insurance or to just shrug it off and not worry about it unless I have any problems in the future.

Here's the thing, here's my "conspiracy theory".  I had a similar experience with a "fix-it" ticket that I got in Compton.  I was driving a big truck and I got pulled over because one of my brake lights on my trailer was not working.  When I checked it I found that there was a little wire and plug, behind the light, that was not plugged in.  So I plugged it in and fixed the problem.  But the Officer would not let me go without a fix-it ticket.  She insisted that I go through a scale and have them sign-off that the problem was fixed.

So I when I went through the scale on my way home I had an Officer come out and sign it off.  Then I mailed it to the Compton courthouse -- along with a $50 "processing fee".  And about a week later it was mailed back to me..  The letter said that they had not received the signed off fix-it ticket.  So I sent it again, this time taped to a piece of paper with an arrow and explanation pointing to the ticket.  And they mailed that back again!  This time claiming that they had not received the $50 check -- and they also had added $350 fine!!!

So this time I did not mail it back.  Instead I took a day off and drove all the way up to the Compton courthouse.  There was a line that stretched out the door and wrapped almost all the way around the building.  When I got into line I found that the other people were there for the same reason.  And when I finally got to the counter and started to explain the situation to the clerk, she stopped me and smirkingly reassured me that I only had to pay the $50 fee.

It seems like a scam.  Is AAA playing the same game?  I payed a late fee with each payment -- when the autopay wasn't working.  And the mileage that I am sending in is for a mileage "discount".  Are they a little crooked?  What do you think?  I think that most people just send these things back in again and don't waste their time going in and complaining like I did.

Would it be smartest for me just to handle it the way that the average person does?

Sounds like what's happening to me with Verizon right now. I've received the same bill four times now. I paid it a week after I got the first one. It's been a month since then. At least when I call them, though, they acknowledge that it was paid and tell me to ignore the rest of them. But they still keep coming... :idontknow:

I'm going to pray that a mysterious priest mysteriously shows up with his oils, anoints the AAA computers, prays the rosary out loud with you, and disappears as quietly as he arrives, leaving everything fine.

(But it won't be a miracle.)

If you send them a complaint, assemble the words from letters you've cut out from newspapers and magazines. Mention "green rays" and "lizard men".

Is it really the organizations or a scam? I suggest to all of you to check out your orginizations, ask them if they sent whatever it was to you, and check it out with the BBB or Better Business Bureau.

Who cares if it worked? It's not about working, it's about screwing with them and reading their funny reply!
