qfnol31
I know, I'm preempting him. There are also some great short ones too.
AnneLine
Absolutely. That's why I think the opportunity for people to bump the 'good' short threads... before such and such a time... would be a really good solution.... might get some good discussions going as well! :)
Lil Red
i think whatever dUSt wants to do is fine. if some posts are lost, then oh well. that's the way the cookie crumbles. dUSt has brought this up before, so this shouldn't be a surprise. Lil Red
What I meant, L&T, was that maybe dUSt could put an announcement in EACH thread saying he was thinking of doing this, or even better, if the phorum technology permits, post ONE thread that appeared in all of the forums at once ... so everyone would have a chance to see what he is proposing and be able to give pheedback. When I ran an employment board at one point our webmaster was able to do that when we had limited service for holidays coming up or something like that... it was useful! But may not be possible with this software.... and if not, I'm asking if an announcement could go in all the threads to the same effect.... But whatever you want, dUSt! maybe this will teach people not to confine themselves to only one area of the phorums.

Yep, this was discussed months ago. It's not the first time we have lost threads. Probably won't be the last. I think a good first step in the deletion process would be to get rid of all the accounts that have been sitting there validating for years. Winchester
I wish there was a way to see the topics and whether they are serious or frivolous before deletion. Maybe some great apologetic post will be lost in the purge. That said, the number does look pretty small and if it make the forum run better I guess the sacrifice is worth it. It's not like there's a couple millenia of material to draw on, or endless repetition of the same themes on PM.
AnneLine
Absolutely, I agree about deleting the non-current/spam Phatmass accounts. No criticism intended!!!!! A few years back I made a point of praying over all the users... literally, going over the whole 'alphabet' of phatmassers... and I was pretty astonished. Agreed, pruning is good. ;) And yeah, a lot of threads could go with no major harm... I know what you mean about people not limiting themselves to one phorum... learned that myself... have always been grateful that I took that suggestion a few years back.... but sometimes people have retreated into one phorum or another after a bad experience. So... I just don't want 'em to have another if its possible to avoid. ;) For that matter, sometimes I hate to have to delete PMs, but it has to happen sometimes, or no room in the mailbox! Fr. Antony Maria OSB
There are a lot of people who made accounts and still actively lurk. Perhaps this doesn't apply to my account, since I was somewhat active when I first joined in '06 (gosh that was a while ago!), but what determines having less than 20 posts? For example, my account says that I have just over 800 posts, but I know for a fact that I have not posted more than 10 times in the past year. I am one of those people who tend to lurk while not logging into my account regularly, but occasionally I'll find a post that I'd like to reply to. It could very well be my own ignorance of technology that is making me ask this question, haha, but I thought I should bring it up.

Fr. Antony Maria OSB
Nazifarmers should be deleted. Hmm....It would save me some time by giving me one less site to check every so often.....
arfink
For those afraid of losing posts: if it's more than 5 years old, you'll find it on Archive.org.
