thepiaheart
Hi everyone! I was invited today to the private Mass & small reception for the 10th wedding anniversary of a beautiful, deeply devout Catholic couple, in their early 30s. I know her much better than him. They have a deeply contemplative/prayerful but also deeply intelligent (fringe Thomists!) life of faith. Have been unable to have children. My heart honestly aches with the profound witness of their self-giving love & suffering. I am astonished to have been invited, as I encountered them very, very recently. Anyways, I need some help -- what is an appropriate gift? I'll certainly find a beautiful card and write them a note, but what kind of a gift ought I make? I'm a student w/o much $, but I definitely want to honor them in some way, especially since they are drawing me into their family life & their marriage with so much openness. Any help?! Many thanks. In love, Pia

arfink
Seconded the sick phatmass t-shirts. ;) What's your budget? Perhaps they would like some Catholic art?
Basilisa Marie
You can have some masses said for their intentions, maybe at a cool contemplative monastery or something. :)

thepiaheart
What's your budget? Perhaps they would like some Catholic art? Good question. The cheaper, the better; poor college student, ya know? But I'm willing to splurge a bit. Where would I look for said art?
MarysLittleFlower
Michael O'Brien is a good Catholic artist, but I don't think his website offers prints, only originals... what about getting them something Catholic for their home? Like a nice crucifix or statue? the only thing might be that - they might already have such things, especially crucifixes... I also think it's a good idea to offer Masses! arfink
Well, that depends. Shameless self-plug: I'm an artist. I do wood engravings, and have also done work in laser engraved paper and a few other things. Here are examples of my work, which usually sell between $10 and $60 depending on how big and fancy you like it. You can visit my shop, or request a special piece be made. I'm looking for some extra work right now, so I'm happy to offer a special discount. :) (my shop: http://arfink.bigcartel.com/ ) [mod]Member agreed to have some photos removed of woodworking so that he's not got a bigger advertisement than the owner of Phatmass; a link each. Though he has examples up elsewhere on the phorum and on his site.-BG[/mod] Edited August 8, 2013 by BG45
